  8. WebSeeker Release Notes

  10.    In order for WebSeeker to search the Internet, Winsock must be running.
  11.    To test for Winsock, try to run your favorite Web Browser, e.g. Netscape.
  12.    If your Web Browser won't run, you need to work on your Internet
  13.    connection until it does.
  14.    WebSeeker 32-bit needs a 32-bit Winsock connection, much like a 32-bit Web 
  15.    Browser does.

  17.    WebSeeker will work with Compuserve and America Online (AOL) if the 
  18.    WINSOCK.DLL from these respective companies has been installed.
  19.    For AOL use Keyword: winsock
  20.    For Compuserve, install their newest WinCIM software.

  22.    NT Users - WebSeeker will work on NT 3.51.  After installing WebSeeker you 
  23.    may need to add quotes around the command-line in the Program Manager
  24.    Item.

  26.    NT 4.0 Beta Users - WebSeeker known problems when attempting to stop a search
  27.    in progress.

  29. Each search module you add to WebSeeker adds to its power.  Some
  30. search modules are General Search Modules.  These are search
  31. modules that will create a search for any keyword.  Examples
  32. of General Search Modules are Lycos, Yahoo, WebCrawler, etc.
  33. For Non-General Search Modules, you add each search individually
  34. to a Subject.  Examples of Non-General Search Modules are The
  35. Virtual Headbook (for actors), The Car Lot (for autos), etc.

  37. To add a Search Module to WebSeeker, simply copy the WebSeeker Search
  38. Module (<file>.SSM for 16-bit or <file>.S32 for 32-bit) to the
  39. same directory as WebSkr.EXE or WebSkr32.EXE.  The WebSeeker program
  40. will automatically detect and use the new Search Module.

  42. More Search Modules are being added every day.  If you have
  43. purchased WebSeeker Pro, you will be sent updates to the Search
  44. Modules on a quarterly basis.
