Creates a new DJLOPE database file and immediately prompts the user for the first record. After entering the first record, you will be prompted for a new filename. You may type a complete filename with .MDB extension (e.g. MYFILE.MDB) or just a filename (e.g. MYFILE) and DJLOPE will add the .MDB extension for you. Do not use an extension other than .MDB for a filename since DJLOPE uses .MDB as a default file name extension, and displays only those files when you do a FILE OPEN.
FILE OPEN (CTRL+O)
Opens an existing DJLOPE database file. The dialog box will default to files with the database extension .MDB in the current directory. Click on Drive or Directory to browse for DJLOPE database files in other directories if they exist.
Microsoft Access users may have other database files with an .MDB extension. These cannot be opened with DJLOPE, only files created for use with the DJLOPE program. Trying to open a file not created in DJLOPE will have unpredictable results.
FILE SAVE (CTRL+S)
Saves the current file to disk.
FILE SAVE AS ... (CTRL+A)
Create two identical DJLOPE database files with different names. Useful if you want to add to an existing database, but retain just the existing data, too.
PRINTER SETUP
Opens the Windows Printer control panel. Normally, since DJLOPE controls printing operations, you will not need to use this setup facility. If envelopes are not printing with the correct orientation, be sure "Portrait" orientation is selected in the Windows Printer control panel regardless of the method of envelope feed for your printer. Paper size should be set to "Letter". Other settings will have unpredictable results. DO NOT CHANGE PRINTER SETUP SETTINGS UNLESS YOU CANNOT PRINT ENVELOPES WITH THE DEFAULT SETTINGS. DJLOPE for Windows does not change these settings.
CONVERT DATABASE (CTRL+C)
Users of previous DOS versions of DJLOPE will use this conversion facility to convert their old database files (*.LST format) to the .MDB format used by DJLOPE for Windows.
Conversion is a three-step process.
1. Select the database to convert by clicking on "Select Database to Convert" or pressing ALT-S. The resulting dialog box will show files with the .LST extension. You may browse anywhere you have stored these files to select them. Click on the file to convert, then click on OK.
2. Usually, you will not need to change the file name displayed in this dialog box. However, you may wish to store the new converted file in another directory or folder on you hard drive. Be sure that any change to a folder or directory name is typed correctly.
3. Perform the conversion by clicking on "Perform Conversion" or press ALT-C. The file is quickly converted to the new format and is ready for use. The old .LST file still exists without changes.
Do these three steps for as many .LST files as you want to convert.
Click on "Exit" or press ALT-X when you have converted the desired .LST files.
EXIT DJLOPE (CTRL+F4)
Exits the DJLOPE for Windows program.

THE PRINT MENUS
QUICK PRINT WITHOUT SAVING (CTRL+Q)
To print an envelope without saving the address to a database, use this option. Type in up to five lines in the dialog box, then click on Print to print the envelope.
PRINT ALL RECORDS (CTRL+R)
Use this option to create labels with DJLOPE or simply to print a database on standard 8.5" x 11" paper.
You will be reminded to be sure the printer is turned on and loaded with paper or labels. The program will report to you the number of records in the database and calculate for you the number of pages (or label sheets) you will need for this operation. Click OK to proceed.
Avery labels x160 are the only labels currently supported by DJLOPE. These labels are ideal for addresses and are 1" x 2-5/8" in size, 30 to a page. They are available in most office supply stores. For best results in an inkjet printer, be sure to use labels for "inkjet" printers. Laser or copier labels are generally not suitable for use in inkjet printers and can get stuck inside your printer.
You will notice that the bottom row of labels is not printed. This is the result of some printer's bottom margin limitations, and not an oversight on our part. Trying to print on the bottom row of labels exceeds the bottom margin limits of the printer, therefore, for best results, DJLOPE leaves this area blank.

FIND (CTRL+F)
To search a DJLOPE database for any group of characters (a name, street, or Zip code), press CTRL+F to display a dialog box. Type into the dialog box the character or characters you wish to find in that database. Press [ENTER] to begin the search. DJLOPE will display the first record it finds containing your search selection. Pressing the F3 key will continue searching for the same selection to the end of the database.
FIND AGAIN (F3)
This is the same as pressing the F3 key as described above.

THE HELP MENU
HELP (F1)
Selecting "Help" or pressing the F1 key displays the help topics available for DJLOPE.
The four help files (INTRO.HLP, DJLOPE.HLP, ENVELOPE.HLP, AND CONFIG.HLP) are located in the same subdirectory as the DJLOPEW.EXE file. These are ordinary text files and can be printed from Windows NotePad or another text processor. They cannot be accessed from the Windows Help system.
