  2.     GENERAL                 
  3.  
  4.     ZIP ASSISTANT is a Microsoft Windows shell that simplifies the basic 
  5.     functions of the PKWARE archiving utility PKZIP, it is VERY EASY TO USE.
  6.     There are no superfluous features, or even help files as none are 
  7.     required,  the program will lead you through the procedure.  If you have 
  8.     pkzip.exe and pkunzip.exe you can archive and unarchive files, and if you 
  9.     have zip2exe.exe you can convert zip files to self-extracting executable files.
  10.     You can also easily attach and view zipfile comments.

  12.     INSTALLATION
  13.  
  14.     ZIP ASSISTANT and the installation program require VBRUN300.DLL to run.
  15.     This file is not included with the program. 
  16.     
  17.     For easiest installation:   
  18.     
  19.         1. Locate the install program drive and directory using Microsoft 
  20.         Windows File Manager. 
  21.  
  22.         2. Double-click file INSTALL.EXE, follow instructions.  
  23.     
  24.       OR
  25.  
  26.         1. In the Microsoft Windows Program Manager, choose RUN from the
  27.         File Menu.
  28.  
  29.         2. Click Browse, locate install program directory and click file 
  30.         INSTALL.EXE.
  31.  
  32.         3. Click OK, follow instructions.    
  33.       
  34.     If you decide to uninstall this program, simply delete the icon, the
  35.     program directory and all of its files.  None of your system or Windows files
  36.     were modified during installation.

  38.     OPERATION
  39.  
  40.     1.  The first time you run ZIP ASSISTANT,  you will be prompted to designate 
  41.     the location of your PKZIP exe files.  To do this:
  42.      
  43.         Designate the location using the Drive and Directory windows
  44.         Click SAVE CONFIGURATION         
  45.  
  46.     2. To archive, unarchive or convert zip files to exe files:
  47.  
  48.         Click the button of your choice
  49.         Follow numbered instructions using Drive/Directory/File windows.
  50.               If archiving you may:
  51.             - add comments to zipfiles
  52.             - use wild card file selection 
  53.             - select random multiple files 
  54.             - span multiple floppy disks
  55.         Click OK.

  57.         Contents of an archived file are automatically displayed prior to
  58.         unarchiving.     
  59.     
  60.     REGISTRATION
  61.  
  62.     ZIP ASSISTANT is shareware, and unregistered versions will function 
  63.     for a 30 day trial period.
  64.  
  65.     To receive a registered version by mail (3.5" disk), send $10.00 along 
  66.     with your name, address (postal and E-mail) and telephone number to the
  67.     address below.  Please note that you are registering ZIP ASSISTANT.   
  68.  
  69.     If you would like to save the cost of postage and handling, you may register
  70.     for $7.50 and receive a registration code by E-mail.
