  60. Windows programs.  This document contains only a brief description of
  61. the package and its features, along with instructions for its
  62. installation.  Quite detailed documentation is included in the package,
  63. but it is in archived form, and is more easily read after installation.

  65. TC's Toolbox is distributed as Shareware.  This evaluation version
  66. includes all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.

  133. ===== Installation =====================================
  134.  
  135. The installation procedure for TC's Toolbox is quite simple.  The
  136. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  137. entire process.  You will need about 2 Meg of available disk space
  138. on the hard drive on which you plan to install TC's Toolbox.
  139.  
  140. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  141. TC's Toolbox.
  142.  
  143.  
  144. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  145.  
  146. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  147.  
  148.    o  Place the diskette labeled "Disk 1" (if more than one disk) in
  149.       the appropriate diskette drive.
  150.  
  151.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  152.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:,
  153.       then from the Windows Program Manager choose Run from the File
  154.       Menu and type A:setup and press Enter.
  155.  
  156.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  157.       The program will ask you for a destination directory, and copy
  158.       TC's Toolbox files to that directory.  If you received TC's
  159.       Toolbox on multiple diskettes, you will need to insert the
  160.       next disk in the diskette drive when asked to do so.

  163. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  164.  
  165. If you downloaded TC's Toolbox from a BBS (or received it in the form
  166. of archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  167. following steps.
  168.  
  169.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  170.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  171.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  172.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  173.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  174.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  175.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  176.       the package.
  177.  
  178.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  179.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  180.       TC's Toolbox is C:\TEMPDIR, then from the Windows Program Manager
  181.       File Menu choose Run and type "c:\tempdir\setup" and press Enter.
  182.  
  183.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  184.       The program will ask you for a destination directory, and will
  185.       copy the TC's Toolbox files to that directory.

  187. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  188. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed TC's ToolBox
  189. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.

  195. files for each program for further information.

  200. ----- Disk Vendors please read --------------------------------------

  202. DISTRIBUTION MEDIA:
  203.  
  204.      The setup files must be on the 1st disk for the setup program to
  205. work.  These files are SETUP.EXE, SETUP.LST, SETUP1.EXE, SETUP1.LST,
  206. VER.DLL, VBRUN300.DLL, and SETUPKIT.DLL.  Program, help and support
  207. files can be on the first disk or other disks.  The setup program will
  208. prompt for another disk to be inserted after it has installed all the
  209. required files it could find on the current disk.  This will continue
  210. until all the files have been installed.  This makes it possible
  211. to distribute the program on any size disks, from 360K on up.
  212.      Most of the files will have the understrike as the last file
  213. extension character indicating that they are compressed.  The setup
  214. program will automatically uncompress these files during installation.
  215.      IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please do not substitute your own installation
  216. program.  The setup program included checks files for the most current
  217. version and will not overwrite a newer version.  This saves installation
  218. time and prevents future compatibility problems.  If you have a special
  219. need to add your own setup routine then contact Specific Applications
  220. Software first and we should be able to work something out.
