  1. Welcome to Help to Text, a program that converts Windows
  2. .HLP files into text files that can be edited using any
  3. editor or Word Processor.  This program is not crippled in
  4. any way.  It is fully functional and has no time limits or
  5. restrictions of any kind.  All we ask is that if you like
  6. the program and find it useful, then fill out the order form
  7. in the "Order Form" Help screen.

  9. There are three major reasons why this program can be useful
  10. to most Windows users.

  13. 1.  The current trend in Windows software is to give minimal
  14. paper documentation when selling a product.  Most of the
  15. effort is put into online help, much of which is inside a
  16. .HLP file.  Help to Text will convert these .HLP files into
  17. text files.  You can then edit the text file to your liking
  18. and print it.  This process gives you your own copy of the
  19. program's documentation.

  21. 2.  Many times I've found a Help file's keyword search to be
  22. useless.  The keywords the programmer felt were important,
  23. were not the keywords I want to look for.  Or I know that
  24. the word I'm looking for is on one of the help screens but I
  25. can't remember which one.  Using Help to Text to create a
  26. text file, you can search the text file for ANY word or
  27. phrase you want.  A MUCH more useful tool than the Help
  28. Keyword Search.

  31. 3.  Should you decide you want to print out a help screen
  32. exactly as it appears on your screen, you can do that by
  33. selecting the the Print Topic menu item.  However if you
  34. want to print out all, or a range of help screens, the
  35. Windows Help processor won't let you do that, Help to Text
  36. will.

  38. We're confident you will find many more ways to make Help to
  39. Text useful for you.  We have already begun enhancing the
  40. software for the next release, and all registered users will
  41. be informed of the new release as soon as it comes out.
