I. Installation of this program is very simple. Clippity Dippity Do 1.0 is ready to run as is. Extract all files to a directory you want to keep it in and double click on the CDD1.EXE filename from File Manager or Explorer. If you do not have CMDIALOG.VBX and COMMDLG.DLL in your \windows\system directory you should place them there. Many other Windows applications need those files to operate. CDD does not copy any files to your computer unless you have told it to do so. To uninstall Clippity Dippity Do, you only need to delete the directory you installed it to. You do not and should not erase CMDIALOG.VBX or COMMDLG.DLL, since many other Windows programs depend on those files to operate.
II. Overview: This program was created to help people who frequently use the Windows Clipboard and wish they had the ability to run many Clipboards at once and had more power in the Clipboard. This program is mainly text based, but does have some graphics functions for completeness. It is fully compatiable with Windows '95, with the exception that it does not retrieve information from Explorer when you copy a file. I felt that this was out of scope for this program and did not address that issue. It may be addressed later if enough people call it to my attention that there is a need for such a function. The following is a list of some things you can do with Clippity Dippity Do 1.0:
Keep track of what type of data is on the Clipboard
Display what is on the Clipboard
Keep up to 4 completely independent copies of the Clipboard or Clipboard type of data
Save and Print information from each CDD clipboard.
Paste data and open saved files to a CDD clipboard.
Perform Windows Clipboard functions without loading Clipboard
And More.
III. How To
a. How to register: A great deal of work went into this program. Although no "fee" is required for your continued use, any donation would be greatly appreciated. For a donation of $15 or more, you will receive the latest version of Clippity Dippity Do as well as the printed documentation that accompanies it. b. Useage: When the program first loads, you are greeted with programmer information and 5 options you can choose from. For most people, simply clicking OK will do. If, for some reason the program crashes at this point, try clicking the NO option under Autoshow Clipboard. If a really huge amount of information is on the clipboard when you start the program, this is your best bet to get it up and running. Later, you can "chunk" the data on separate CDD clipboards. The 800x600 option is provided for people with monitors better than mine. I'm sure that there are lots of you out there, so please give me some feedback on how this works for you. The rest of the program is self explanatory. If you want to know what a specific button does, hold the mouse over that button. You will see an explanation of what it does in the box in the upper right corner of CDD. Dont forget that Windows '95 users and some Windows 3.x user have the right-click options in the text Windows. These will give you pinpoint options for working with text. The graphics display options are for display only. There is not much you can do with them except look at them.
