  67. About Ecopad
  68. Welcome to Ecopad!
  69.  
  70. Ecopad(tm) is a text editor replacement for Windows Notepad which can
  71.  print up to 8 pages of text on one sheet of paper. Ecopad is compatible
  72.  with all True Type« fonts/point sizes and supports any printer that can
  73.  be used with Windows 3.1.

  75. Distribution
  76. Individual users and BBS's (including commercial BBS's) may distribute
  77. the files "ecpd21.zip" and "ep3221.zip" (32-bit version for
  78. Windows95/NT) without restriction. Disk dealers and distributors please
  79. see the file "veninfo.diz".

  81. System Requirements
  82. Ecopad requires Windows 3.1. and a 386SX or higher processor. Ecopad
  83. will also run without problems on Windows95 and Windows NT 3.5.

  86. Ecopad includes complete on-line help. You can also print the file
  87. "manual.wri" for a complete printed manual.

  89. Installation
  90. To install Ecopad, run "setup.exe", either by double clicking in File
  91. Manager or by selecting File/Run and entering "setup.exe" in File
  92. Manager.

  94. Benefits of Registration
  95. When you order Ecopad, you will receive a 3.5"" disk with the latest
  96. versions of the software (both 16 and 32-bit), along with a
  97. registration number which will prevent the software from shutting down
  98. after 20 days or 60 uses, whichever comes last. If the software has
  99. already expired, you can re-activate it with this number.
  100.  
  101. You can use your registration number to register all future versions of
  102. Ecopad (both 16 and 32 bit), so future updates are always free of
  103. charge (except for the cost of downloading).
  104.  
  105. Caveats
  106.  
  107. 1.  Ecopad is not a replacement for Microsoft Word, so don't throw out
  108. your commercial word processor. Ecopad can load files that are pure
  109. text (these files usually have the extension ".txt"), and files created
  110. with the Windows Write word processor. Other kinds of files created
  111. with other word processes will look very strange if you try to load
  112. them into Ecopad. If you want to load/print a file created with another
  113. word processor, first save it as "ascii text" or "text", and then load
  114. it into Ecopad. See your word processor documentation for information
  115. on how to save a file as pure text.
  116.  
  117. 2.  Although Ecopad can load files created with the Windows Write word
  118. processor, currently Ecopad does not attempt to remove embedded
  119. pictures or OLE objects when loading them. Therefore, if the Write file
  120. you are trying to load contains embedded pictures or OLE objects, you
  121. will get garbage characters where the pictures or objects would appear.

  123. Note also that Windows« Write files are always loaded as read-only, the
  124. original file is not changed in any way when loading/printing with
  125. Ecopad.

  170. To install Ecopad, double-click on "setup.exe" from File Manager.

  175. 1.  From Program Manager, delete the 'Ecopad 2.1' program group icon.
  176. 2.  Delete all of the files in the \ecopad21 directory (or whatever
  177. directory you installed Ecopad).

  179. 4.  Ecopad has now been uninstalled.
