In the following text, the word files will refer indiferently to directories or applications. For example, when it is said that WinD can open files, it means that WinD can open directories or applications (launch them).

1. What Is WinD?

WinD is a tray-icon program that allows you to open a file by simply typing its partial name. You activate WinD by pressing a combination of keys. Once you did it, a dialog appears where you can type the name of the file you want to open. If WinD find more than one file matching your request, it shows you a list where you can choose the file you want to open.

In WinD you are allowed to:
* quickly open any directory from any application you're working on
* quickly launch any application the same way you open directories
* choose the combinations of keys that activates WinD
* choose the drive(s) to be indexed
* open directories in 'Standard' mode or in 'Explorer' mode

3. System Requirements

WinD is optimized for i486 processors and runs under both Windows 9x and Windows NT. That means that WinD works only on i486 computer or better (does not work with i386) running under Win9x/NT (does not work with Windows 3.1). WinD is known to work without problem on AMD-based machines.

4. Registration
----------------
This program is a shareware. In the unregistered version, in addition to the annoying splash screen and information boxes, you can only scan the drive C. If you want to use it for more than a short evaluation period you must pay the 15$ shareware fee per license. You can also buy a Site License for 400$ (roughly equal to 27 users) that will cover all your organization's sites within a 100-mile (160 km) radius of your location.
The World-Wide license costs 1000$ and covers all your organization's sites on the planet.

You will receive an e-mail to confirm the payment and then another e-mail (within about ten days) containing your registration code. Double-click on the WinD icon in the taskbar, then click once on the 'About' button. Then click on 'Register' and enter your name and registration code.

6. How To Use It
-----------------
After installing and restarting your computer WinD displays a message telling you to build the index. Click on yes and wait until the process finishes. Then double click on the WinD icon in the tray. Here you can setup WinD to your needs. After you did it, click 'OK'. You are ready to use WinD.
You can call WinD by pressing simultaneously the combinations of keys you set. If you didn't set any other combinations of keys it should be 'Ctrl + Tab' for directories and 'Ctrl + º' for applications.

7. Known Limitations

Some games do not work properly when WinD is loaded. In this case, remove WinD from memory by right clicking on its icon in the taskbar and choosing 'Quit'.
WinD is known to be incompatible with:

* Unreal & Unreal Tournament
* FIFA 2000
* Age of Empire II

8. Uninstalling
----------------
Right-click on its icon in the taskbar and choose 'Quit'. Then select 'Add/Remove Programs' from the 'Control Panel'. Select 'WinD' and click the 'Add/Remove' button.
