  1. Help to Text is a program that converts Windows .HLP files into editable ASCII text files.

  3. There are many reasons why this program is helpful to 
  4. Windows users. Here are two of them:
  5.  
  6. 1.  The current trend in Windows software is to give minimal 
  7. paper documentation with a product.  Documentation is mostly 
  8. put into online help in a .HLP file.  Help to Text will 
  9. convert these .HLP files into text files.  You can then edit 
  10. and print them, and you will have your own reference copy of 
  11. the program's documentation.

  13. 2.  Many times I've found a Help file's keyword search 
  14. frustrating.  I'm much more familiar with how to use my Word 
  15. processor or editor for searching. With Help to Text I can 
  16. convert the help file into a text file and bring it into my 
  17. favorite editor to do any kind of search I want.
