  1. Readme file for FCU, File Compare Utility

  6. 0. Description
  7. ----------------
  8. FCU is a file compare utility for comparing text files. The compared
  9. files are displayed in three windows: left file window, right file window
  10. and an extra window were the composed file will be displayed.
  11.  
  12. Different sections are colored with red (left file) and yellow (right file)
  13. background. Anyhow the color for the background can be changed.
  14. User friendly commands allow a quick insertion and deletion of the lines in
  15. the different sections.

  17. In addition it is possible to compare directories including subdirectories,
  18. as well specify an file mask for the files to be compared. The different files
  19. are then displayed in a list control. A simple double click on the line containing
  20. the file will open a 'Compare File' view where the files can be examinated or
  21. merged.

  24. 1. Installation
  25. ----------------
  26. To avoid unnecessary download time no installation procedure is supplied.
  27. Just start FCU.exe or create a shortcut for the EXE and Help file.
  28. Anyhow the program will save options in the registry.

  31. 2. Uninstall
  32. -----------
  33. A uninstall option is supplied. Use the Windows uninstall functionality
  34. (Add/Remove Programs in the control Panel) to uninstall FCU or execute
  35. 'FCU.exe -uninstall'. Anyhow you have to delete the EXE and Help files yourself,
  36. as well the created shortcut. The uninstall will only clean up the registry entries.
