Thank you for evaluating nnCOPY. This file contains introductory and
last minute information.
_______________________________________________________________________
*** IMPORTANT NOTES ***
(1) Before reading any further, please verify that you have a complete
set of the files originally included in the nnCOPY package. A list of
the files may be found in the VENDINFO.DIZ file, supplied with the
package. If any file listed in the VENDINFO.DIZ file (or the VENDINFO
.DIZ file itself) is missing, the package is incomplete and its further
use or distribution is not allowed. To obtain a complete package of the
software, please download it from our web site or contact us at the
address at the end of this file.
(2) Before you use this software, please read the Denso Create Inc.
License Agreement, which is displayed by the setup program. It is also
included in the VENDINFO.DIZ file, supplied with the package. By using
nnCOPY you agree to be bound by the terms of the license.

*** 1. About nnCOPY ***
Exchanging files between team members of a bigger software project can
be a difficult chore. Did you ever had problems like "oops, Mark and I
edited the same file", or like "I can't compile because I don't have
all of the most recent files of other team members"?
Did you ever wish Windows had a way to assign ownership to files, so it
would be easier to see who has the right to change what? May be you
evaluated or are using version control software and found out that
that type of software is nice, but not so convenient to exchange files
between team members on a daily basis.
Are you using Explorer to copy files you changed to a shared drive, so
other members can use them? Selecting your changed files and copying
them to the shared drive by checking the time stamp one by one can be
very time consuming, however overwriting all files can be dangerous.
Doing so, did you ever accidentally overwrite files you are not
supposed to do?
nnCOPY v1.0e for Windows addresses all of these problems. It is a
project management and copy tool for software development teams. nnCOPY
is a 32 bit Windows program and has a modern user interface with an
easy point and click operation.
nnCOPY allows you to define projects and their team members. A project
repository is located on a shared drive. It can be on any networked
drive that is accessible by all team members. Each team member has an
identical copy of the project directories and files on his/her local
drive. An easy to use wizard helps you to do the steps of defining a
new project.
nnCOPY allows you to see the directory structure of a project. You can
use nnCOPY to assign ownership to individual files, even under Windows!
A table displaying the files of the current directory allows you to see
who owns what file, see if the files on the local side and repository
are in sync or need to be updated.
Directories on the local drive and the repository can be synchronized.
Exchanging files depending on ownership, e.g. "copy all files I changed
recently", or "get the most recent files from all other team members"
is just a push of a button away.
A comment can be added to individual files, e.g. "Compiles, but not
debugged", "Bug B-0132 fixed" or "80% complete". This is useful to get
an overview of the status of a project.
A history function allows you to trace the history of file operations.
This allows you to see who copied, deleted or changed ownership of
files on what day.
An easy point and click "Compare Files" operation allows you to see
what is different between a file on the local side and its
corresponding file in the repository. (This function needs an external
diff program, not supplied by Denso Create Inc.)
The line end format of text files (CR or CR+LF or LF) can be changed
automatically during the copy operation in case the repository is not
on a Windows machine. This is an important feature for multiplatform
development, where you want to maintain only one file repository.
nnCOPY's file owner and copy management is not dependent on any
network OS or file locking mechanism. A shared drive on any network is
sufficient.
Features at a glance:
o Easy point and click operation.
o Define projects with repository, work directories and team members.
o Assign ownership to files even under Windows.
o See if files on the local side and the repository are in sync.
o Exchange only files that need to be updated.
o File update depends on time stamp and file owner.
o Text or binary files can be copied.
o Automatic line end change of text files if repository platform is not
Windows.
o Independent of network OS, no need for file locking mechanism.

*** 4. This is Shareware ('Try Before You Buy' Software) ***
What is Shareware?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
nnCOPY is NOT freeware or public domain software. It is software which
you can "try before you buy", this is called shareware.
You may install the program in your system and use it for an evaluation
period of up to 30 days. After that time, you are required to purchase
a license for continued use of the software or else stop using it. You
may freely copy and distribute evaluation copies of nnCOPY provided
that all conditions specified in the distribution license are satisfied
(please see the license agreement in the VENDINFO.DIZ file). Any other
use of the software is in violation of international and national
copyright laws.
Shareware has the following advantages over commercial software:
o You can try the software out for free. This allows you to find out if
the software fits your needs. If satisfied, you can purchase it in
order to get a license for continued use of the software.
o You get more for your money. The shareware producer doesn't need to
have big expenses on sales and marketing, like brochures, ads and
so on. This in turn keeps the price of shareware programs low.
o You can search software on-line, sometimes using keywords (example:
'synchronize'). This allows you to find the software that fits your
needs. Example web sites to look at are http://www.shareware.com/ ,
http://www.wugnet.com/shareware/ , http://www.sharewarejunkies.com/ ,
http://www.filemine.com/ and http://www.pcwin.com/ .
o You can get the latest version any time you like by downloading it
from a web site or a BBS.
What's the difference between the Evaluation and the Licensed version?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is NO functional difference between the evaluation and licensed
versions of nnCOPY, all features of the licensed version are available
and can be used in the evaluation version. Actually, it IS the same
program. You may convert an evaluation copy to a registered copy by
entering the registration confirmation we provide you into the
"Shareware Registration" dialog box.
The only difference between the licensed and evaluation versions is
the "About nnCOPY" dialog box, which is displayed when starting the
evaluation versions of nnCOPY. It is a reminder that the software must
be registered if intended for continued use.
How to Register
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you decide that you want to keep the software you must register
nnCOPY within 30 days of use. You can register nnCOPY by entering your
registration confirmation (Registered User Name, the Number of
Registered Users and the Registration ID) into the Shareware
Registration dialog box, accessible from the "Help" -> "About nnCOPY"
menu command.
To obtain a Registration Package that contains your registration
confirmation, you must purchase a license for continued use of nnCOPY.
How to Order a License for Continued Use of nnCOPY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please refer to the ORDER.TXT file for detailed instructions and order
form. You can find this file in the same directory as this Readme file.
VISA and MasterCard credit cards are accepted for payment.
What do you get when you purchase a license for nnCOPY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
o A unique Registration ID, allowing you to remove the reminder "About
nnCOPY" dialog box on startup.
o The privilege to upgrade to all future versions of nnCOPY free of
charge.
o Free 90-day customer support. We listen to our customers, feedback
on how to improve the product are greatly appreciated.
o Peace of mind that the shareware concept works. ;-)
_______________________________________________________________________
*** 5. Attention and Known Problems ***
Read Only Files
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The current version of nnCOPY does not support files with the read only
flag set. Please remove the read only flag of all files you manage
using nnCOPY. This is feasible because nnCOPY guards against
accidental loss of files. Trying to overwrite a file with the read
only flag set will show a "Error: Access is denied" error message.
Long File Names
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
nnCOPY does support long file names. However, nnCOPY can't copy files
with long names to a shared drive that doesn't support long file names
(e.g. NetWare v4.1). A misleading message "Error: Access is denied" is
shown if you try to do so.
