  1. Information on Using the NT Service
  2.  
  3. If you are running Windows NT Client or Server you may choose to utilize the
  4. available TechScheduler NT Service. The service DOES NOT work on Windows 95!
  5.  
  6. All Job types except "Glue-it!" and "Keystroke Emulation" work from the
  7. service.
  8.  
  9. The TechScheduler NT Service allows the TechScheduler engine to run within
  10. the secure server layer. This will allow you to schedule jobs to occur
  11. without you having to logon to Windows NT.
  12.  
  13. The supplied service: TKSHDSVC.EXE should be located in a directory that
  14. will always be available to the OS. Do not put it in the root or temporary
  15. directories. Select either the TechScheduler or the Windows\System directory.
  16.  
  17. Follow these steps to install and activate the TechScheduler NT Service:
  18.  
  19. 1. From a DOS prompt change directories to where the service is located.
  20.  
  21. 2. install it. Type "tkshdsvc -install"
  22.  
  23. 3. From Windows Control Panel invoke the SERVICES icon.
  24.  
  25. 4. TechScheduler will appear on the list of services. Choose startup
  26.    options: "Manual" or "Automatic" and tell it to interact with the
  27.    desktop. You may need to set up a specific NT user account
  28.    for TechScheduler or use the Administrator context.
  29.  
  30. 5. Start the service by clicking on the "Start" button.
  31.  
  32. Follow these steps to uninstall the TechScheduler NT Service:
  33.  
  34. 1. From Windows Control Panel invoke the SERVICES icon.
  35.  
  36. 2. Stop the service by clicking on the "Stop" button.
  37.  
  38. 3. If you have TechScheduler set to start automatically, change this setting
  39.    to "Manual"
  40.  
  41. 4. Go to the directory where the TechScheduler NT Service resides.
  42.  
  43. 5. Type: "tkshdsvc -remove"
  44.  
  45. 6. Delete the file.
  46.  
  47. Warning: If you delete the tkshdsvc.exe file before doing step 5 above then
  48. your OS will flail helplessly trying to load and invoke the service!
