  12. to supplement the TextMagus documentation. You can also look

  18. HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT

  21. To view Readme.txt on screen in Notepad, maximize the Notepad window.
  22.  
  23. To print Readme.txt, open it in Notepad or another word processor,
  24. and then use the Print command on the File menu.

  41. TextMagus is your indispensable assistant in working with text files.
  42. If the elements of the source text file are separated by certain symbols
  43. (comma, semicolon, tab character or any other symbol) or if all the
  44. elements in the text file are of the same width, TextMagus will allow
  45. you to easily convert it into the required format. 
  46. TextMagus will also help to choose the right character set for the
  47. source file and the result obtained. 
  48. The built-in functions will relieve you of routine numbering the lines
  49. and calculating their number. 
  50. Once the template for converting a certain type of files is created,
  51. you will turn text processing into an enjoyable job and save precious time!

  53. TASK SOLVING
  54. ============
  55. TextMagus is frequently used for solving the following tasks: 
  56.  
  57. 1. Transformation of the text the elements of which are separated by
  58.    certain symbols into an easily perceived tabulated format. 
  59.  
  60. 2. Reverse conversion - the initial file is a text with fixed width
  61.    elements resembling a tabulated structure. It is to be converted
  62.    into a text with separators, for instance, for subsequent processing
  63.    by some program. 
  64.  
  65. 3. Converting the text from one character set into another. 
  66.  
  67. 4. Removal of redundant information from the file; for example, one or
  68.    several extra columns in a tabulated text file. 
  69.  
  70. 5. Adding certain elements to the source file to obtain a text of the
  71.    required structure.

  73. 6. Replacement of certain elements of the source text by information
  74.    from an external directory.

  79. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  80. ===================

  82. The program requires Microsoft R Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, 
  83. or Windows NT 4.0 Sp6. If you are running any of these 
  84. operating systems and have a Windows-compatible mouse or 
  85. pointing device, your system has already met all the 
  86. requirements necessary to run TextMagus. A full 
  87. installation of product requires 1,2 megabytes of hard 
  88. drive space.

  90. SETUP

  93. Installing Acwad TextMagus
  94. --------------------------
  95.  
  96. NOTE: Prior to installing the newest version of the TextMagus
  97. you must uninstall the old version!
  98.  
  99. To install Acwad TextMagus run the "TMSetup.exe" and follow the
  100. instructions. You'll need to select the target directory. To
  101. launch the program use "Start|Programs|TextMagus" menu.

  104. Uninstalling Acwad TextMagus
  105. ----------------------------
  106. You can uninstall TextMagus by carrying out the following steps:

  108. 1. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  109. 2. Click "TextMagus", and then click Add/Remove.
  110. 3. Follow the instructions on your screen.

  114. 1. Choose Uninstall from the TextMagus program group.
