  9.   +can be easily integrated on distribution cdroms, 
  10.    like magazines which want to promote FreeDOS.
  11.   +bootable on modern computers if computer supports it
  12.    (Intel Pentium or compatible, or newer computers)
  13.   +easily recreated in case you want to update the cdrom,
  14.    and customized versions are encouraged!

  18. When booting from the CD or via a bootdisk based on the
  19. generic floppy images provided, the batch file
  20. \FREEDOS\SETUP\BATCH\AUTORUN.BAT is ran.
  21.  
  22. If you are having problems accessing your CD using the
  23. supplied eltorito.sys driver, create a floppy by running
  24. \FREEDOS\SETUP\BATCH\BOOTDISK.BAT and add your CD drive's
  25. OEM provided DOS CD-ROM device driver.  The batch file
  26. will prompt for your floppy drive (A: or B:), then
  27. extract the contents of the floppy image normally used
  28. during CD booting, and finally it will update the diskette
  29. boot file to match the geometry (360KB, 1.2MB, 1.44MB, ...)
  30. of the drive.  Copy over your CD driver, then rename or
  31. edit CONFIG.SYS to match.  Reboot and hopefully all is well!

  33. If you are unable to boot from the CD directly, i.e. you
  34. have an older Pentium or 486 class computer that entirely
  35. lacks or has broken El-Torito CD-ROM boot support, you
  36. may wish to create a floppy disk that contains SBM
  37. (Smart Boot Manager).  Boot this floppy then select boot
  38. CD from its menu.  For some CD drives you may have to
  39. tell SBM which I/O ports to use [common ones are 1f0, 170,
  40. 1e8, and 168].  http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/

  42. For those on Windows based systems, you may use a program
  43. such as Daemon Tools (www.daemon-tools.com) to mount the
  44. ISO image as a drive.  For those on Linux based systems
  45. with loopback support, simply mount the ISO image, e.g.
  46. mount fdcd.iso -r -t iso9660 -o loop /mnt
  47.

  55. program's version number or indicate FreeDOS Beta9 Bootable CD.
