  5.  Thanks for trying A43! This help is brief, assuming you know what a file 
  6.  manager is and how to use it. What this help will do is fill you in on the extras 
  7.  that A43 offers. A43 was created for my personal use but I have decided to 
  8.  let others have a go too.

  13.  First and foremost I want to thank all those in the development community
  14.  that have so graciously shared with me over the years. Some components
  15.  used in A43 have been made available that others might learn and to

  19.  USING THE BUILT IN ZIP FEATURE
  20.  ------------------------------
  21.  You can drag-n-drop zip files for easy extraction or select the zip file you want 
  22.  to unzip then select unzip from the file view menu or click the unzip button.

  24.  To compress files simply select the files and drag-n-drop or select the files then 
  25.  select zip from the file view menu or click the zip button.
  26.  
  27.  WARNING: If you select an existing zip file and the files you want to compress
  28.  already exist they will be overwritten without prompting.
  29.  
  30.  NOTE: If you choose to check Relative Path, only the relative path will be 
  31.  stored in the archive,  meaning files will have no path information saved while
  32.  folders will have the path information stored with any files they contain.
  33.  If Relative Path is not checked then the path information is stored for both
  34.  files and folders.

  36.  ALSO NOTE: If a folder you want to archive is empty then it will not be
  37.  stored. To insure it is included place a dummy file in it. For example, place a
  38.  zero byte text file there.

  41.  SELF-EXTRACTING ARCHIVES
  42.  ------------------------
  43.  Drag-n-drop zip files or select zip files then select Make EXE from the file view 
  44.  menu or click the EXE button. Multiple archives can be converted at one time
  45.  but if they are huge give  A43 time to convert them. There is no abort for this
  46.  operation. The converted files will remain in the same folder as the original zip
  47.  files.

  50.  CHANGING DATE/TIME STAMP OF FILES
  51.  ---------------------------------
  52.  Select the files you wish to alter then select Set File Date/Time from the file 
  53.  view menu. A dialog will be presented with the current date/time ready to apply 
  54.  or change the date/time then click apply.

  57.  QUICK LAUNCH AREA
  58.  -----------------
  59.  Here you can create shortcuts to your favorite programs or files. If you already 
  60.  have shortcuts simply select them, then drag-n-drop with the right mouse 
  61.  button, then select copy here. Or locate the programs/files and drag-n-drop 
  62.  with the right mouse and select create shortcut here.

  65.  FM EXTRA
  66.  --------
  67.  This simply mimics the file manager to allow an extra work area. The menus
  68.  and toolbars are not active for this area. However, drag-n-drop and context
  69.  menus are implemented. Right-click an object to perform an operation.

  72.  FAVORITE BUTTONS
  73.  ----------------
  74.  Drag-n-drop a folder onto the Favorites then select which button you
  75.  wish to set. Now this button will take you there.

  78.  TEXT EDITOR

  80.  Use the Text Editor to edit text files and to quickly store them in a zip file.
  81.  Drag-n-drop a file on the editor to open it for editing.
  82.  To activate the popup menu press Ctrl+Alt+M while the editor is active.

  85.  SPLITTER
  86.  --------
  87.  Use the splitter buttons to minimize, maximize and restore the splitter.
  88.  You can only drag the splitter when it splits the view.

  91.  NAVIGATE

  93.  Use Ctrl+Alt+Left and Ctrl+Alt+Right for the Back/Forward buttons.
  94.  Use Ctrl+Alt+UpArrow to go ot the parent folder.

  100.  Enter your search criteria then click find. Double-click a file shown from
  101.  the search to go to the file.

  103.  HEX VIEWER

  105.  Drag-n-drop a file to load it into the viewer. Double-click to clear
  106.  the viewer.

  109.  IMAGE VIEWER

  111.  Drag-n-drop a file(s) to load it into the viewer.  You can only drop files, 
  112.  not directories.

  115.  COMMAND-LINE PARAMETERS

  117.  You can instruct A43 to open to a specific directory by passing the path:
  118.      c:\temp
  119.  
  120.  You can instruct A43 to open a text file by passing the path to the file:
  121.      c:\temp\myfile.txt

  123.  You can instruct A43 to start with a certain file filter by passing the filter:
  124.      /ext=*.txt;*.ini;*.bat

  126.  You can instruct A43 to use a different ini directory by passing the path
  127.  you wish to use:
  128.      /ini=c:\temp

  130.  NOTE: The directory you pass must exist.

  132.  You can instruct A43 to use a different 'links' directory by passing the path
  133.  you wish to use:
  134.      /links=c:\temp

  136.  NOTE: The directory you pass must exist.

  138.  A43 will scan the entire command-line for your parameters. Seperate each
  139.  parameter with a space.
  140.      c:\myfolder   /ini=c:\temp
