Lexmark Z22-Z32 Series ColorFine Printer Driver
for Microsoft Windows NT
----------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
1) After you install the Lexmark Z22-Z32 Series software, the
Lexmark Z22-Z32 Series ColorFine program group appears
under Start/Programs.
2) Many printing problems can be eliminated by setting
Virtual Memory Initial Size to at least 128 MB. You
should also set the Virtual Memory Maximum Size to
at least 256 MB.
NT 4.0 Hint: Click Start/Settings/Control Panel; double-click
on System and go to the Performance tab; in the Virtual
Memory section, select the Change button; change the
Initial Size of the Paging File Size for Selected Drive;
change the Maximum Size of the Paging File Size for
Selected Drive; then press the Set button.
Windows 2000 Hint: Click Start/Settings/Control Panel; double-click
on System and go to the Advanced tab; press the Performance Options
button; select to optimize performance for Applications;
in the Virtual Memory section, select the Change button; change the
Initial Size of the Paging File Size for Selected Drive;
change the Maximum Size of the Paging File Size for
Selected Drive; then press the Set button.
3) This driver was designed to work best with the Default Datatype
of LEMF. To select LEMF as the Print Processor Default Datatype:
Click Start/Settings/Printers; right-click Lexmark Z22-Z32
Series ColorFine printer icon, then click Properties.
For Windows 2000, go to the Advanced tab.
Click the Print Processor button. Select the Lexmark
Print Processor. Select LEMF as the Default Datatype.
In NT 4.0, click off "Always spool RAW datatype". Click OK.
NOTE: Changing the Default Datatype while some applications are
open can result in printing problems. For best results, close
all applications before changing this setting.
4) There are three different print quality modes in the driver
ranging from a "draft" mode to a 1200 DPI mode. The
differences between these modes are in the dots per inch
addressed, and the number of passes of the print head used
to apply ink to the print medium. The greater the number of
passes, the higher the print quality.
High Speed: This is a 300x600 DPI high-speed "draft"
mode. All printing is done with one pass.
Normal: This is a 600x600 DPI mode. It is the
default for the driver. Printing is done
in either one or two passes, depending on
the print media used.
High Quality: This is the 1200x1200 DPI mode. All printing
is done in four passes.
5) If you are unable to select 1200 Dots Per Inch (DPI) from
within applications, you may select 1200 DPI mode
from the driver.
To get 1200 DPI mode from the driver for all documents:
Click Start/Settings/Printers; right-click on the
Lexmark Z22-Z32 printer icon; click Document Defaults(NT 4.0) or
Printing Preferences (Windows 2000);
select High Quality; then click OK.
To get 1200 DPI mode for a particular application:
From the application's file menu, select Print, then Properties,
Options, or Setup. Select High Quality; then click OK.
6) If you select RAW as the Print Processor Default Datatype, then
print jobs will not start printing until the last page is spooled.
7) Peer-To-Peer printing works if the Peer's Print Processor
Default Datatype is either RAW or LEMF.
8) Full graphic Freehand files might print fastest with the Default
Datatype of NT EMF. To select NT EMF as the Print Processor Default
Datatype:
Click Start/Settings/Printers; right-click Lexmark Z22-Z32
Series ColorFine printer icon, then click Properties.
For Windows 2000, go to the Advanced tab.
Click the Print Processor button. Select the Lexmark
Print Processor. Select NT EMF as the Default Datatype.
In NT 4.0, click off "Always spool RAW datatype". Click OK.
