NOTES:
It is important to have recent drivers for your video card, as many
cards ship with buggy or incomplete DirectX drivers, which can cause
anything from visual glitches to system crashes. Contact your card
manufacturer for more information, or check their web site.
To get your joystick or wheel to work in the game, you MUST setup your
joystick in Windows. To do this, open the Control Panel, and open
the Game Controllers applet, and add your joystick and calibrate it here.
If you use a gamepad, you should make sure the "Gamepad" checkbox is
checked in the Controls Options menu in the game, or else your steering
will be jerky.
The demo requires DirectX 5.0 or better.
DirectX information can be found on the World Wide Web at
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/
If you have a Voodoo and another 3D card, the game will default
to the Voodoo. To use your primary adapter, run the game by typing
"Viper Racing Demo" -1
at the Start Menu's "Run..." dialog box, or modifying the Start Menu
shortcut equivalently.
IMPROVING SENSATION OF SPEED:
* If you are getting a choppy frame rate, try going to the Graphics options
menu, and turning down detail and draw distance, turn off mirror and effects.
If you can turn off "Sync to vertical blank" on your Display control panel,
this will often help frame rate as well.
* Racing from the F2 or F3 (bumper or xray) cameras gives a much better
sensation of speed, as well as more feel for "drifting".
* Drive faster! ;) Our office's best lap time (sim) is 58.73...
a new "ace" setup is found in the Viper Racing Demo\Config\Setups directory
under "Troy.html"

We welcome your comments, complaints, and suggestions!
Please e-mail feedback to
feedback@mgiracing.com
and bugs to
bugs@mgiracing.com
(the program creates a file c:\log.log which is very useful to
the developers; including a copy of this with your e-mail is a huge help!)
Replay (.rpl) files can be found in the following folder:
c:\program files\sierra\Viper racing demo\config\replay
Thanks to everyone who sent us feedback about the first demo; it helped
us find and fix a number of bugs as well as make other improvements!
KNOWN BUGS:
* Switching back to the Desktop while the game is running may cause sound
to be muted, or even a crash on some systems.
* Sound might not work on a few machines, or have crackling
* Blocky trees with S3 Virge and NEC PowerVR cards--these cards do not
support color-keyed transparent textures. Also, the Matrox Millenium I,
(not II), doesn't support texture mapping(!), so the game will not run
on this card.
FIXED FROM 2.0 DEMO:
* Replay crash fixed
* Uninstall fixed
* Cyrix fix
* CreateFileMapping fix
* 2MB card support, better video card compatibility
* New road texture
* Skid/offroad sound fix
* In multiplayer, IP addresses can be pasted from the clipboard with Ctrl-V
* "Auto E-mail" removed
* "Same setup" in multiplayer fixed
* Sound fixes
* New engine sound
