  8. Hard Disk Space:

  10. For installation of game "Horde" it is required approximately 
  11. 50 Megabytes of free hard disk space.

  14. Windows 95«, Virtual Memory, and Hard Disk Space:
  15. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16. The Windows operating system requires a certain amount of virtual memory to
  17. function properly. The amount of virtual memory required by Windows varies
  18. depending on how much of your computer's resources are required by an
  19. application. As a general rule of thumb, you should keep enough free hard disk
  20. space equal to the larger of: two times the total amount of RAM your computer
  21. has; or, 10% of the space on the hard drive with Windows.

  26. CTRL+ALT+M - open whole map

  30.              it's better to drop out artifacts you no more need)
  31. CTRL+ALT+Z - drop out all artifacts
  32. CTRL+ALT+E - add a maximum skill to units
  33. CTRL+ALT+H - add a maximum health to units
  34. CTRL+ALT+D - total extermination of current nation

  51. LAUNCHING THE GAME
  52.  
  53. Problem:
  54. After launching the game from the Start menu or Desktop icon, you get a
  55. blank screen, a black box that surrounds the mouse cursor, blurring or
  56. choppy graphics, vertical lines on the screen, choppy sound, or no sound.
  57. Answer:
  58. There is probably a conflict between your video or sound card and
  59. Microsoft's DirectX.
  60. Solution:
  61. For Windows 95 and 98 users:
  62. 1. Press the 'Start' button on the Windows 95/98-task bar and select 'Run'.
  63. 2. Type "c:\Program Files\directx\setup\dxdiag.exe" then click on the 'OK'
  64.    button.
  65. 3. Make sure all your files are DirectX 7 compatible. Select the 'DirectX
  66.    Files' tab make sure there are no exclamation points next to the file 
  67.    names. If you find exclamation points under this tab you will need to 
  68.    reinstall DirectX 7 by going to the 'START' Button on the Windows95 task
  69.    bar then select 'RUN' and type your CD-ROM drive letter followed by
  70.    ": \DirectX\dxsetup.exe" and click on the 'Reinstall DirectX' button. 
  71.    This will reinstall DirectX 7.
  72. 4. Make sure all of your drivers are DirectX 7 compatible. Select the 
  73.    'DirectX Drivers' tab and make sure there are no exclamation points next
  74.    to any of the file names.  If you find exclamation points under this tab
  75.    you will need to update your drivers by contacting the manufacturer of the
  76.    hardware.
  77. 5. Test your hardware with the DirectX 7 Diagnostics tool. Run the tests 
  78.    that are available on the 'Display', 'Sound', and 'Input' tabs. If one or
  79.    more tests fail, this could be due to driver incompatibility. Installing
  80.    the newest drivers available for your sound and video card hardware can
  81.    usually resolve this.

  83. For Windows 98 users:
  84. 1. Press the Start button on the Windows 98 task bar and select 'Help'.
  85. 2. Select the Search tab, type 'DirectX Troubleshooter' in the text box, 
  86.    and then press the List Topics button.  Select 'DirectX Troubleshooter'
  87.    in the Topics window, click the Display Button, and then follow the 
  88.    instructions to troubleshoot your DirectX issue.

  91. Can arise problems with sound cards ESS 1868, 1869 regarding sound. 
  92. Aforementioned problems should be settled by installation of new drivers.
  93. (Mean drivers, are in package with sound card and not drivers, 
  94. are supplied with Windows)

  96. For better game sound, volume is preferable to adjust in Windows settings 
  97. and in game set up maximum one.
  98.  
  99. Video and Sound card manufacturers regularly update their software 
  100. drivers to enhance performance and stability, and to improve 
  101. compatibility with DirectX.

  103. You may obtain a list of Microsoft-certified video and audio drivers for 
  104. your hardware by going to http://www.microsoft.com/hwtest/hcl/.  Drivers 
  105. listed here are confirmed to be compatibility with Windows 95, Windows 98
  106. and Windows NT4.0.

  108. Microsoft updates DirectX and its components regularly and posts them for
  109. download off of their web site at http://www.microsoft.com/DirectX.
