  5. Welcome to the Dark Rift demo.
  6.  
  7. The full version of Dark Rift, a fully 3 dimensional weapon-based fighting game,
  8. boasts 8 playable characters and two boss.  Character attributes include as many
  9. as 10 hits in a combo series, exploding projectile attacks, grabs and special 
  10. moves, special grab and projectile moves off of combos, and get up combos.
  11.  
  12. Of the N64 version of Dark Rift, EGM says, "Dark Rift looks good- real good, and 
  13. the animation is some of the best around next to VF3...".  And Ultra Game Players 
  14. says, "...manages to claim the title of best fighting game for the N64...".

  16. In this special demo package only two characters are playable, Gore and Aaron. 
  17. We hope you enjoy it and look for the full PC version of this exciting brawler 
  18. in stores soon.

  39. Getting Started:

  41. 1.  Turn on computer to start Windows95.
  42. 2.  Start "dr_demo.exe" from Windows Explorer or double-click on "dr_demo".

  44. Notes:
  45.  
  46. 1. DirectX 3 is required in order to play Dark Rift PC.  If you do not have 
  47.    DirectX 3 installed, please download it from the Microsoft website.

  49. 2. Make sure your Color Palette is set to "High Color (16-bit).  Dark Rift 
  50.    can only be played in 16-bit color. 
  51.  
  52. 3. The keyboard has been configured for maximum key combinations.  Remapping 
  53.    of keys may result in reduced key combinations for some keyboards.  If you 
  54.    have an ergonomical keyboard you may want to change the keyboard mapping 
  55.    for player 1 to a more comfortable position.

  57. 4. In order to make this playable demo, the number of playable characters has 
  58.    been reduced to two characters. (Arron and Gore)  All other characters are 
  59.    not playable, "Start" will have no effect.

  62. Trouble shooting:
  63.  
  64. 1. If you are using the Microsoft SideWinder game pad, please make sure you 
  65.    are using the Microsoft SideWinder driver version 1.5 or greater.  
  66.    Problems have been found with the 1.0 driver.  The 1.5 driver can be found 
  67.    on the Microsoft website.

  69. 2. After installing the game, and starting Dark Rift.  If there is no response 
  70.    from the keyboard or game pad.  Check the DirectX setup to make sure the 
  71.    Display Driver is setup properly.  Dxsetup.exe located in the Directx 
  72.    directory of your Program files.  If the Display Driver reports no version 
  73.    number or "Not Supported".  Reinstall DirectX to fix problem.  If problem 
  74.    still exists, update your Display Driver in Display Properties - Settings.  
  75.    Then reinstall from the DirectX setup menu.
