Transcription: Early women's rights issues in the United States centered on a woman's right to vote. Movement leaders like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton organized conventions and campaigns to raise awareness of injustices to women. In 1920, the Constitution was amended giving women the right to vote. The movement enjoyed a rebirth during the sixties and by the early seventies the National Organization for Women had gathered strength to push for an equal rights amendment to the Constitution. Although the amendment fell short of ratification, many states did adopt their own equal rights laws.
