  3. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  5. Dragon Dice requires the following minimum system configuration:

  7.   - 486DX2/66  
  8.   - 16 megabytes RAM
  9.   - Mouse
  10.   - 40 megabytes free hard disk space.
  11.   - Supports VGA and SVGA video cards. 
  12.   - DirectSound compatible sound card.

  16. INSTALLING THE GAME
  17. WIN95  INSTALLATION:
  18. Method 1:
  19. 1)  Place the Dragon Dice CD into your CD-ROM drive.  Close the drive.
  20. 2)  Wait for a few seconds for the Autoplay application to run.
  21. 3)  When the Autoplay application displays itself, click on the Install button.
  22. 4)  Follow the instructions for installing Dragon Dice.

  24. Method 2 (If you have Autoplay deactivated):
  25. 1)  Place the Dragon Dice CD into your CD-ROM drive.  Close the drive.
  26. 2)  Using the Explorer or the MY COMPUTER icon, display the contents
  27.     of the CD-ROM drive the Dragon Dice CD is in.
  28. 3)  Double-click on SETUP.EXE.  You will be presented with instructions
  29.     for installing Dragon Dice.

  33. UNINSTALLING THE GAME
  34. WIN95  UNINSTALLATION:
  35. Method 1:
  36. 1)  Insert the Dragon Dice CD.
  37. 2)  Wait a few seconds for the Autoplay application to run.
  38. 3)  If the game has previously been installed, the Uninstall button
  39.     should be active.  Click the Uninstall button.  You will be presented
  40.     with instructions for uninstalling the game.

  42. Method 2:
  43. 1)  Open the Start menu on the Taskbar.
  44. 2)  Open the Settings sub-menu and click on Control Panel.
  45. 3)  In the window that appears, double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
  46. 4)  In the dialog which appears, click on "Dragon Dice" or "Dragon Dice Demo"
  47.     in the list of available programs.  Then click the Add/Remove...
  48.     button.  You will be presented with instructions for uninstalling the game.

  52. TROUBLE SHOOTING

  55. It is recommended that you run Dragon Dice at 16-bit color depth (65 thousand
  56. colors).  Some art may look better at this color depth.

  60. Dragon Dice uses .AVI files for movies.  If your MCI video device is disabled,
  61. there may be errors when attempting to play the movies in Dragon Dice.  To enable
  62. your MCI video device, double-click on the Multimedia icon in the Control Panel,
  63. click on the "Advanced" tab, double-click on "Media Control Devices",
  64. double-click on "Motion Video Device", and click on the "Use This Media
  65. Control Device" radio button.  Click OK.

  69. The first time you run Dragon Dice (and only the first time), you will be presented
  70. with a preview movie for Interplay Productions new title "Starfleet Academy".  This
  71. preview requires DirectX 2 or later to be installed in order to run.  If you did not
  72. choose to install DirectX 3a during the Dragon Dice installation, or you do not already
  73. have DirectX installed, the preview will not run.  If you wish to play the preview again,
  74. you can find it on the Dragon Dice CD in the \DEMOS\SFA directory.  Run SFADEMO.EXE.

  78. Dragon Dice requires DirectX 3a in order to run properly.  You will be given the option
  79. to install DirectX 3a during the Dragon Dice installation program.  If you choose to skip
  80. DirectX 3a installation at this point, you may install it from the Autoplay application.
  81. Place the Dragon Dice CD in the CD-ROM drive and wait for the Autoplay application to
  82. run.  Click "Install DirectX 3a".

  86. If you have installed the Indeo Interactive codecs for AVI playback and are still
  87. not seeing video properly.  Try the following:
  88.  
  89. 1.  Enter the Settings menu under the Start Menu and click on Control Panel.
  90. 2.  Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
  91. 3.  Click on the "Windows Setup" tab at the top of the window.
  92. 4.  Scroll down until you see "Multimedia" in the listbox and double-click on it.
  93. 5.  Scroll down until you see "Video Compression".  If the check box next to this
  94.     entry is empty then you do not have certain necessary components installed on
  95.     your machine.  Click on the checkbox so a check appears and click OK at the
  96.     bottom of the window.  Click OK at the bottom of the Add/Remove Programs window.
  97. 6.  You will be asked to insert your Windows 95 disc to install the proper
  98.     components.  Follow the instructions provided to install them.  You may be
  99.     required to reboot before the changes will take effect.

  163. embodied therein and derivatives thereof.  You are granted a revocable, 
  164. nonassignable limited license to create derivative works of this Software 
  165. solely for your own personal noncommercial home entertainment use and may 
  166. publicly display such derivative works to the extent specifically authorized
