  7. INSTALLATION:
  8. From within the Win95 Explorer or desktop, drag the entire directory
  9. structure for Silencer from the CD-Rom to your hard-disk. You can then
  10. begin the game by clicking on the icon for Silencer.

  13. NOTES ON USE:
  14. The DirectX package must be installed on your system play Silencer.
  15. Double-click on 'dxsetup.exe' in the silencer\redist\directx directory of
  16. this CD.
  17.  
  18. You must have also installed direct-draw drivers for your video card for
  19. Silencer to run properly. These drivers might have come with windows-95,
  20. but cards purchased before Win-95's introduction or those that shipped
  21. with win-3.1 drivers will not work. Most people receive updated drivers
  22. from either the web-site or ftp-site of their graphics-card manufacturer.

  24. If you are running with a 1MB graphics card, Silencer may run very slowly
  25. or not at all. Silencer has not yet been optimized for a 1MB graphics card.

  27. This demo version of silencer requires a machine with approximately 24MB
  28. of free ram. This usually requires a 32 MB system. Silencer will ship
  29. with a 16MB ram requirement.

  35. To disable sound on any system, modify:
  36.     silencer.cfg

  38. so that the value following
  39.     sound_on
  40. is 0

  42. All the game play information for silencer can be found in SILENCER.TXT.
  43. What follows is an abbreviated list of key commands:
  44.  
  45. ESC       Exit current mode
  46. F12       Exit out immediately (useful for exiting multi-player if one system doesn't respond)
  47. MOVEMENT  Arrow keys
  48. CTRL      Fire
  49. SPACE-BAR Open door, use teleport, let go of ladder while climbing
  50. /         Camera mode.  Hold "/", left and right arrows change camera
  51. 1-6       Weapons
  52. a         Change ammo for current weapon
  53.           The ammo types for weapon 6 are different grenades
  54.           To throw a grenade, tap the CTRL key or hold CTRL and hit a
  55.           direction key.  The last type of grenade ('spy') requires that the
  56.           user hold the camera button to view the location of the grenade,
  57.           and tap the CTRL button to detonate it.
  58. CAPS-LOCK Allows you to type a cheat code. Press enter to complete it or
  59.           caps-lock again to abort it. 'FBI' gives you all the weapons and
  60.           lots of health. 'FPS' displays frame rate information.

  63. Holding the UP arrow while jumping to a ladder will grab ahold
  64.

  66. NOTES ON MULTI-PLAYER: Silencer currently runs with 2 multi-player opponents.
  67. The shareware version will support between 4 and 8. Select Network Game from
  68. the main menu. Select IPX. One player chooses Create. One player chooses
  69. Connect. The connecting player must then press enter.
