Racing Tips.
Make full use of the practice laps, this will help you learn the
nature of the track and you'll be able to see where you can use
full throttle and where you'll have to brake.
Obviously the faster your qualifying laps the better positioning
on the starting grid. Don't worry too much if you don't get Pole
or 1st or second row as these cars are the easy to pass on the
first lap. Starting at the middle or back of the grid is where
the problems are created, upon starting try and use full throttle
but make sure you don't lose speed by bashing into other cars as
this will let the cars ahead stretch away.
The pit lane is probably one of the biggest problems in the game,
if you hit the barriers or slightly off, then its off to do another
lap. So on approach to the pits, try and brake to a managable speed
and make sure the car goes into the pits. This is better than
having to do a further lap, that you may not ever make it around !
The odd extra seconds aren't much when it comes to overtaking in
this game.
Try and remember the circuit layout and try and take the corners
as smooth as possible. Taking corners smoothly lowers the amount
of damage on your tyres and also helps you keep up a steady speed
and lead over all the other cars. Watching the path the other cars
take round corners is also a good pointer for your approach. If
your tyres screech this is a sign that you are going to fast or
tight round the corner, so slow down, else your tyres will start
to wear.
Reference to the track map is often a good way learning the tracks,
bends etc... but a lot of play will also allow you to learn all the
lumps, bumps, corners, bridges, barriers etc... So practice !
For beginners use the automatic gear shift, but if you to succeed in
the later stages, you will need to get to grips with the manual
gears.
Now get out there and race......
