  1. 1.0 - Installation

  3. The zip file should have included the following:
  4.  
  5.     winmaze.scr     - The screen saver
  6.     winmaze.wri     - This file
  7.     readme.txt     - An overview text file
  8.     orderfrm.txt - A text version of the order form for printing.
  9.  
  10. To install the winmaze screen saver, simply copy winmaze.scr into your
  11. primary windows directory (the same directory win.com is in).  For example,
  12. if windows is installed in c:\windows and you are at a dos prompt in the
  13. same directory as winmaze.scr, you can type:
  14.  
  15.     copy winmaze.scr c:\windows
  16.  
  17. This will complete the installation.  If you run the Desktop control panel,
  18. you will see 'Maze Solver' as one of the screen savers.  Read the rest of
  19. this manual for instructions on configuring the screen saver.  You may keep
  20. winmaze.wri and readme.txt anywhere you like.

  23. 2.0 - Hardware/Software requirements
  24.  
  25. The Maze Solver screen saver should run on any 286 or higher system running
  26. Microsoft Windows version 3.1.  There are reports that this screen saver may
  27. have difficulty under the Norton Screen Saver, but we have not confirmed this.
  28. Registered users also receive a version that runs under Windows NT.

  33. While care has been taken to ensure the quality of this product, we cannot
  34. be responsible if this product destroys your computer, your life, or the
  35. universe as we know it.

  37. 4.0 - Registration
  38.  
  39. If you are reading this, we are impressed.  Registration is $15.  The
  40. registration form is contained in orderfrm.txt and at the end of winmaze.wri.
  41. After registering, you will receive two disks (one PC, one Mac) which
  42. includes the most recent versions of the following:
  43.  
  44.     - MS Windows 3.1 Maze Solver screen saver/program with password
  45.       protection.
  46.  
  47.     - MS Windows NT 3.1 Maze Solver screen saver/program for Intel based
  48.       computers. (Password protection is built-into NT.)
  49.  
  50.     - Macintosh Maze Solver screen saver for After Dark and Darkside of
  51.       the Mac.
  52.  
  53.     - Macintosh Maze Solver application program.
  54.  
  55. 5.0 - General Info
  56.  
  57. Once installed and selected as the current screen saver, Maze Solver will
  58. run with default settings without any other configuration information.  If you
  59. choose to further configure Maze Solver, see the following sections describing
  60. the dialog boxes and configuration options.  Almost every facet of Maze Solver
  61. can be configured.
  62.  
  63. Maze Solver also runs correctly as an executable application.  Change the name
  64. of the file winmaze.scr to winmaze.exe and put it in any directory you want.
  65. The primary item missing as an executable is that the size of the maze will
  66. always be the full size of the window.

  68. The screen saver will store any needed configuration information in a .INI file
  69. that is in the same directory as the program.  Under WinNT, this information is
  70. stored in the screen saver portion of the current user's registry.  (Yes, each
  71. user can have their own settings).

  73. The registered version of Maze Solver has password protection that we believe
  74. to be at least equal to the security provided with the built-in Windows screen
  75. savers.  Unfortunately, built-in detection of network passwords is not
  76. supported.  The registered version also comes with Macintosh-After Dark,
  77. Macintosh stand alone, and MS Windows NT versions of the screen saver.
