ttwinf04 Playing the Game. infowell spoken, slowly, clearly, calmly
ttwinf05 The round button in the lower left corner breaks away from the game action to mundane bookkeeping functions. infowell
ttwinf06 Click on the Game Options button to bring up a menu, from which you can load or save games, quit the game, and change the game settings. infowell
ttwinf07 When you are done talking to me, try saving your game. Then, whenever you want to ask me a question, all you have to do is load that saved game. infowell
ttwinf08 In the box at the lower left corner of the screen, you'll find a book, a sun, and a map icon. These are the Quest Log, Time of Day, and Map functions, respectively. infowell
ttwinf09 Click on the Quest Log book to remind yourself about quests you've heard of, but haven't yet fulfilled. infowell
ttwinf10 Check the Sun display for time of day. As night falls, a full sun will wane to dark. Be more careful then, because some creatures only come out at night. infowell
ttwinf11 Click on the map to see an overhead view of the area you are exploring. You can drag flags from the right to label areas of the map to remind you where certain things are. infowell
ttwinf12 In the box at the lower right corner of the screen, you'll find some colored bars, one for each character in the party. infowell
ttwinf13 Clicking on a bar selects a character, just as if you had clicked on the character directly. You'll see the highlight box jump to the character you've selected. infowell
ttwinf14 The height of the bar indicates the health of the character. When you are in combat, keep your eye on those bars, so you can heal wounded characters or pull them out of danger. infowell
ttwinf15 The colored rings underneath a character match that person's colored bar, both in appearance and in function. infowell
ttwinf16 Three rings means the character is healthy; with two, they're damaged; if there is only one, the character is hurting. infowell
ttwinf17 Red rings appear under enemies, and follow the same system: three means the monster is healthy, two damaged, and one in bad shape. Watching the red rings under opponents can help guide your combat strategy. infowell
ttwinf18 One more thing: the small triangle points to your current party leader. If you want to change leaders, click-drag the triangle to point at a new character. infowell
ttwinf19 In the box at the lower right corner of the screen, you'll find two square buttons, one on top of the other. The top one is the Party Formation button; the bottom is the Rest button. infowell
ttwinf20 To set your party's marching formation, first arrange the characters the way you'd like them. Then click the Party Formation button. infowell
ttwinf21 Tip: it's generally a good idea to have your party leader at the front of your formation. infowell
ttwinf22 Click the bottom button when you want your party to rest and relearn their spells. You can learn more about resting elsewhere in the tutorial. infowell
ttwinf23 The round button in the lower right corner of the screen is the Group/Ungroup button. To group all your characters together, and move them in formation, click the button so that it displays three little figures. infowell
ttwinf24 If you click on a character or its colored bar, this button will change to a single large figure. You can now move that character independently of the others, to scout for traps or secret doors, smash objects, and so on. infowell
ttwinf25 To move again as a group, click on the Group/Ungroup button so that it again displays three little figures. But heed this: you can't group your characters when you are in combat. infowell
ttwinf26 When you move your characters as a group, everyone follows the 'party leader.' You select your leader using the small triangle below the colored bars in the box in the lower right corner of the screen. infowell
ttwinf27 The leader not only heads up the party, but speaks for the party to characters you meet, and interacts with objects when the party is acting as a group. infowell
ttwinf28 To change the party leader, click on the triangle and, while holding down the mouse button, slide the triangle underneath another colored bar. infowell
ttwinf29 Sometimes you may find that one of the icon boxes covers up a part of the screen you would like to see. infowell
ttwinf30 To make the icon box pop down out of the way, click on the small diamond at the bottom center of the icon box. To bring it back up, click on the small diamond at the top center, the only part still showing. infowell
