  9.           pngtopnm - convert a Portable Network Graphics file into a
  10.           portable anymap

  12.      SYNOPSIS
  13.           pngtopnm [-verbose] [-text] [-alpha|-mix] [pngfile]

  15.      DESCRIPTION
  16.           Reads a Portable Network Graphics as input.  Produces a
  17.           portable anymap as output.  The type of the output file
  18.           depends on the input file - if it's black & white, a pbm
  19.           file is written, else if it's grayscale a pgm file, else a
  20.           ppm file.

  22.      OPTIONS
  23.           -verbose
  24.                Display the format of the input file and the type of
  25.                the output file.
  26.  
  27.           -alpha
  28.                Output the alpha channel or transparency mask of the
  29.                image. The result is either a pbm file or pgm file,
  30.                depeding on whether different levels of transparency
  31.                appear.
  32.  
  33.           -mix Compose the image with the transparency or alpha mask
  34.                against a black background.
  35.  
  36.           -text
  37.                Print tEXt, zTXt and tIME chunks to stderr.

  39.           All flags can be abbreviated to their shortest unique
  40.           prefix.

  45.      BUGS
  46.           Due the fact that PNM files only include image data, it is
  47.           not possible to preserve extra data (e.g. comments) stored
  48.           with an image file. Instead of pngtopnm|pnmtoxxx, a specific
  49.           converter should be used, if available. E.g.  ptot (PNG to
  50.           TIFF conversion), etc. (This is not really a bug in
  51.           pngtopnm, more a general problem with intermediate formats.)
  52.  
  53.           Information about scaling is not used.  sBIT chunks are
  54.           ignored.
  55.  
  56.           -mix should use the background color, if specified, instead
  57.           of black.
