  8. This is the first beta release of my JPEG image viewer. It probably only works on
  9. a workbench with screen depth >8, but I didn't test that.
  10. Since it is beta software, there is no additional description than the following:

  12. It's FreeWare.

  14. Installation:
  15. =============
  16. Either copy 'FastView68K' or 'FastViewPPC#?' to where ever you like. Since it is
  17. designed as a commodity, the WBStartup drawer would be a good place, but I haven't
  18. tested yet, if the .elf file is handled correctly, that means being ignored.

  20. Usage:
  21. ======
  22. Either start it from Shell or by a double click on it's icon.
  23. When started first you need the commodity 'Exchange' or something similar to
  24. open the preferences window:
  25.  
  26. Popup prefs keys  : Type in the key combination you like to use to open this window,
  27.                     for example "lshift lalt j" (without the '"').
  28.  
  29. Popup loader keys : Some as above to open an asl requester where you can select the
  30.                     image(s) to load.
  31.  
  32. Initial drawer    : Type in the drawer to be used for the file requester or
  33.                     press the underscored key to pop up a requester where you can
  34.                     choose a drawer.
  35.  
  36. Output window type: "Scale" -- Image will be resized to actual window's dimensions.
  37.                     "Scroll" -- Scroll the image within it's window.
  38.                     "Ask" -- You will be asked what window type used every time.

  40. Buttons:
  41. "Save"  : Saves the preferences to the FastView's icon file. if there is
  42.           none, a default icon will be created.
  43.  
  44. "Use"   : Use preferences without saving them.
  45.  
  46. "Cancel": Restore preferences to last "Used"/"Saved".

  48. The menu is self-explanatory (I hope).
  49.  
  50. You can load as many images as you want, as long as you have enough memory.
  51. Memory usage, especially while loading/decoding is high !
