2. Troubleshooting
-------------------
Spearhead was designed and tested on Intel-based Win95 machines
running DirectX5.
Spearhead has been successfully run on non-Intel CPUs, release
versions of Win98 and Beta/Alpha Versions of DirectX6.
Due to their proprietary nature, Spearhead has not been tested
on laptops.
Known Problems:
Sometimes, when running on a Rendition 1000 board, there will be a
small triangle right under the turret of another tanks main gun
which allows background scenery behind the tank to show through.
This triangle will turn with the turret. You may also encounter
some other graphic anomolies associated with this card.
If, while in the game, you go back to desktop for any reason
and then return, from that point on, the F1 key may bring up the
start menu.
Also, please insure that you have placed your monitor settings to
16 bit color. If you do not, the game will not run.
There is a known bug in the controls configuration program that will
cause it to crash if there is no controls.cfg file. To avoid this
crash, make sure you run Spearhead at least once before attempting
to use the controls configuration program. Running Spearhead will
ensure the creation of a valid controls.cfg file.
3. Notes & Errata
-------------------------
The RECON button in the IVIS has no function.
Your joystick may not function correctly the first time you run
the game. Completely exiting the game and restarting should
solve this problem.
4. System Requirements
---------------------
Win95 and DirectX5 are required to run Spearhead.
A P133mhz or better with 16 MB of RAM (32 Megs for multiplayer or
the PowerVR)
A joystick is not required, but recommended.
3DFX and PowerVR cards are supported, but not required.
A sound card is required.

6. Design Notes and Hints
-------------------------
When traveling near the water, you will notice that the speed of
you tank will sometimes decrease. This is due to mud slowing
down your tank.
I shot that enemy BMP, but its Sagger Missile is still following
me.
These are the newer Sagger Missiles that can be fired and forgot,
locking on the heat signature of your tank.
Use your Hull Down Position, this makes you a very small target.
Keep moving while firing, this make's you harder to hit.
Aim for the weakest part of the tank, the rear, top and sides, in
that order.
Use your thermal, this will allow you to see through the smoke and
haze of the battlefield and locate tanks faster.
Don't forget to "laze", without activating your laser range finder,
you will likely undershoot your target.
Use your assets. Most missions require you to use the other tanks,
scouts, helicopters and artillery assigned to you in order to win.
Check your radio. The radio message you receive in a single player game
will provide you with new assignments, new information.
Many missions can not be won without checking your radio.
