* Other & perhaps useless Info *
This is my first level, of any sort, but I believe it is certainly
worth taking a look at. Visually it is interesting and quite
unique. Please let me know what you think of it and any
suggestions you may have. If it's liked I'll do more levels, as
this one gave me countless ideas. But...I'll probably do more,
time permitting, even if you jokers don't like it :-)
================================================================
* To run LONG NIGHT * (with the registered version of Quake)
- copy darknite.bsp to quake\id1\maps (create the "maps"
subdirectory under your "id1" directory if you don't
already have one). Then to play....

--- SPOILER WARNING --- READ NO FURTHER if you don't want hints.
The Cell: There is a brick sticking out slightly behind the
pillow. Shoot it and the powerbox door will open. Shoot the
circuit breaker and the cell door will open.
To get down to the Courtyard: Take notice of the floor grate you
walk over in the hall just after leaving the cell. At the end of
the hall is a small open patio area with an opening crossed by a
metal bar. Jump up on the ledge of the opening and look down into
the courtyard. Shoot the target on the top of the shipping crate
and, if you hit it properly, the floor grate in the hall will
open (for a time). Leap down into the water supply and swim to
the intersection. Go right a short distance and then up into a
secret chamber. Go back into the water and go straight to the end
then up & out of the well.
In the courtyard: At the dark end you should just be able to
discern the opening to the blacksmith's shop, there you'll find
the light switch for the courtyard. Make sure to turn it on...
for several reasons.
Around the Courtyard: Enter the tower to the left of the
Shambler'scell and go up the 2 flights of circular stairs. Go
along the upperwalkway then jump down onto the narrow ledge
ringing the 2nd tower. Follow the ledge and you'll find a
shootable switch that opens the Chapel door. Jump down and go to
the Chapel and find the switch for the Cookhouse door. Go back up
to ledge and follow it all the way to the doors opposite the upper
walkway between the towers. There you'll find the Cookhouse and
the switch to the Shambler's cell (where the silver key for the
maingate is).
Grand Hall: After getting out of the maingate you'll eventually
come to the Grand Hall. There is a gold key behind the metal door
in the far corner. The door's switch is on the upper ledge.
There's a HIDDEN elevator that is found by walking below the
center of the ledge. Once activating the switch, run to the room
and grab the gold key. The door will trap you in the room if you
do not exit immediately. Take the gold key back to the 1st door
you passed after leaving the maingate. Exit the level.
Extra Hints: The Shambler & Vole are included even in the easy
skillsetting. The Vole (across from the upper walkway) can be
eliminated easily by shooting at the Hell Knight & Ogre across
the way and maybe running back and forth across the walkway until
one of them kills the Vole for you. The Shambler is easily killed
by getting into the Chapel and just whittling away at him since
he can't get in there.
