Grab
If you've tried to take screenshots of
3Dfx games you may have noticed that
traditional screen capture utilities
don't work. This utility will allow you
to take screen shots by grabbing what's
currently in the frame buffer of your
Voodoo board.
Instructions
Use this utility in Windows 95. Start
up the game you wish to take a
screenshot of. When you're ready to
take the screenshot, go back to your
Windows 95 desktop (do not exit the
game) -- you can do this using the
ALT-TAB keyboard sequence (if that
doesn't work, try CTRL-ALT-DEL to take
you to the task manager). From your
desktop click on the START menu, and
choose RUN. Type
[drive]:\[directory]\grab -ft
[filename]
where [drive]:\[directory] is the name
of the drive and directory the grab.exe
file is located (e.g., c:\utils) and
[filename] is the name of the picture
you want to save (e.g., descent2). The
utility will grab the contents of the
frame buffer and save it as a Targa
file in the same directory as the grab
program is located.
This is an unsupported utility. DO NOT
contact 3Dfx Interactive,
Diamond, or Orchid regarding its use.
