  10. This zip file should contain the following files:

  18. Installing the program:
  19.  
  20. This program is distributed as a Zip compressed file. Unzip the file,
  21. using WinZip, or some other PKZIP compliant decompression utility, into
  22. your Windows or Windows\system directory. This is usually, but not 
  23. necessarily, C:\win95 or c:\win95\system.
  24.  
  25. If you unzipped into a temporary directory, simply move the files
  26. 'Mountain Terrain.scr' and 'ScrPlus.hlp' into one of the above
  27. directories, using Explorer.
  28.  
  29. Select the program from the list of screen savers in the Display
  30. Properties dialog. To access this dialog, either Right-Click on an
  31. empty area of the desktop or choose 'Display' from the Control Panel.

  33. You can also change the settings from the Display Properties dialog.

  37. Uninstalling the program:
  38.  
  39. Should you decide to delete this program, simply delete the files
  40. 'Mountain Terrain.scr' and 'ScrPlus.hlp' from your hard drive.

  42. The program also creates the following keys in the registry:

  44. HKEY_CURRENT_USER // Software // KalCigar
  45. HKEY_CURRENT_USER // Software // KalCigar // Mountain

  47. You may freely delete these keys, using Regedit.exe. Before you change
  48. anything else in your registry, be sure to back it up.

  52. System requirements:
  53.  
  54. Any computer running Windows95 or WindowsNT 4.0 or later should have
  55. no problems running the Mountain Terrain screen saver. If you do have
  56. any problems, please let me know. See 'Questions, comments, and bugs'
  57. below.

  61. Settings:
  62.  
  63. There are two ways to access the settings dialog. Either choose the
  64. button marked 'Settings' from the Display Properties 'Screen Saver'
  65. tab; or locate the 'Mountain Terrain.scr' file in the windows directory
  66. using explorer, right click on the icon, and choose 'Configure'.
  67.  
  68. The Settings dialog has two pages, marked General and Options.
  69.  
  70. General:
  71.  
  72. The large monitor display allows you to set mouse-sensitive hot spots,
  73. to run or disable the screen saver based on mouse position. To use this
  74. option, you must have Microsoft Plus! installed on your system. If you
  75. do not, changes here will not affect anything.
  76.  
  77. The Mouse Sensitivity drop-down box allows you to set how much the
  78. mouse must move to stop the screen saver. This does not require Plus!
  79.  
  80. The Wait control allows you to choose how long the screen saver must
  81. run before a password is required to exit it. If you are not using 
  82. passwords, this affects nothing. This does not require Plus!
  83.  
  84. Options:
  85.  
  86. In the Colors box there are several Radio Buttons. These control the
  87. color set the program uses to draw the mountains. In brief:
  88.  
  89. Earth: Gray
  90. Mountains of Mars: Red
  91. Underwater: Blue
  92. Green Fields: Green
  93. Purple Mountains Majesty: Purple
  94. Sonar: Black and white wire-frame
  95.  
  96. The Cragginess control determines how sharply the mountains slope. A
  97. high setting yields tall mountains and deep waters. Average settings
  98. are 64 for a Fine Detail set, and 32 otherwise.
  99.  
  100. The Elevation control determines initial height of the mountains at the
  101. corners. This could be above or below sea-level, though, so this has 
  102. less effect than you might think. The border between high elevations
  103. and low ones is fuzzy, but this control allows you to give it a nudge
  104. in the preferred direction.

  106. The Fine Detail check box allows you to set the size of the building
  107. blocks that make up the mountains. When Checked, the display will be
  108. more detailed, but slower.
  109.  
  110. The Relative Water Depth check box determines whether to change the
  111. color of the water based on the depth to the first structure beneath
  112. them. The deeper it is, the darker the water gets. When Off, the
  113. water remains a solid color throughout.

  132. people or machines as you choose, just so long as this document goes
  133. with it. I would prefer if you were to distribute it in its original
  134. format (i.e. the Zip file).

  137. Company maintains the copyright, and all rights associated with it.

  161. Notes:

  163. Windows 95 includes a built in screen capture utility. If any display
  164. particularly tickles your fancy, you can keep it by pressing the
  165. Print Screen key. This will copy it in bitmap format to the clipboard.
  166. Then, run the MS Paint program (or other graphics utility) and Paste.
