This test will only check the overlay capabilities of your graphics accelerator card; if your graphics card does not have enough memory bandwidth, or for other reasons caused by your graphics card, the overlay image might not be displayed properly.
This test is for Windows98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 and Windows XP only.
(2)Purpose of this software
(System requirements of your PC)
To playback MPEG files: Your PC needs to support YUY2 overlay and also screen size change functions.
To play images from TV or to monitor them for capture: Your PC needs to support YUY2, UYVY or RGB overlay.
(3)Test procedures
Copy MtvTest.exe and MtvTest.txt to the harddrive or a formatted floppy disk, and run MtvTest.exe.
* Overlay
This will check the Direct Draw overlay function.
There will be an overlay list and three sizes will be listed as OK or NG.
The test program will also retrieve the following data from the graphics driver:
1.Overlay is supported
Overlay is fully supported.
2.Overlay supported, no screen size control
Screen size control during playback is not supported.
3.Overlay supported, screen size control %1 only
Screen size control is supported in certain sizes only.
4.Overlay not supported.
Overlay is not supported.
(To check the supported screen control size)
1) Select the screen size in display properties.
2) Click "TEST" button
3) The test window opens. Click the window frame and drag to change the window size. Right click on the window to show a menu to change the screen size. Check if the color pattern shows correctly. This window will close when it becomes inactive.
(TEST Items)
1)To playback MPEG files:
Check if YUY2 overlay is supported
Check if the color pattern shows correctly in all screen sizes.
2)To play images from TV or to monitor them for capture
Check if YUY2, UYVY or RGB overlay is supported
* Progressive image display
The graphics driver needs to support flipping and progressive image playback to support progressive image file playback. Check the "display method" check box for this information. If the check box is grayed out, flipping and progressive image playback are not supported.
* HD
This test will measure the read/write performance of your hard disk. Set the hard drive that you wish to test, and click "HDD Test". The results will show automatically.
If your hard disk performance is below 5MB/s, this means that there is a possibility of frame drops during capture and playback.
If it is between 5MB/s and 10MB/s, this means that this hard drive can be used in normal procedures, but might have frame drops when handling heavy data.
If the data transfer rate is higher than 10MB/s, there should be no problems in using this hard disk.
