  12. 1). Install the Windows 95 with WinFast Birdie board in the PC
  13. ==============================================================

  15.       Install Windows 95 in the usual way. When installation has
  16.       completed, Windows 95 should be booted on the VGA. Follow the
  17.       section 2). "Fitting WinFast S280 board with Windows 95
  18.       already installed" to install the drivers of WinFast Birdie.

  21. 2). Fitting WinFast Birdie board with Windows 95 already installed

  24.       During the booting of Windows 95, a message "New hardware Found
  25.       PCI VGA Compatible Adapter" must be shown on the screen. This
  26.       represents Windows 95 can not locate the device driver(s) of WinFast
  27.       Birdie. Follow the procedure below:
  28.  
  29.       Step 1   Insert the "Windows 95 Display Driver" diskette into floppy
  30.                drive A.
  31.       Step 2   Select the "Driver from Disk Provided by Hardware Manufacturer"
  32.                and then select the "OK" button. A window titled
  33.                "Install From Disk" will appear.
  34.       Step 3   Specify the path "A:\WIN95" and select the "OK" button in the
  35.                "Install from Disk" window.
  36.       Step 4   After all new drivers are installed, a windows will appear to
  37.                ask you to restart Windows 95 now.
  38.       Step 5   Remove the diskette from floppy drive A and then Press the "Yes"
  39.                button to restart the Windows 95 now.

  42. 3). Updating existing WinFast Birdie Windows 95 drivers

  45.       Step 1   Insert the "Windows 95 Display Driver" diskette into floppy
  46.                drive A.
  47.       Step 2   Press the right button of mouse in the Windows 95 wallpaper area.
  48.       Step 3   Select the "Properties" item, a window titled "Display
  49.                Properties" will appear.
  50.       Step 4   Choose the "Settings" tab in the "Display Properties" window.
  51.       Step 5   Select the "Change Display Type" button, a window titled
  52.                "Change Display Type" will appear.
  53.       Step 6   Select the "Change" button in the "Adapter Type" section,
  54.                a window titled "Select Device" will appear.
  55.       Step 7   Select the "Have Disk" button, a window titled
  56.                "Install from Disk" will appear.
  57.       Step 8   Specify the path "A:\WIN95" and select the "OK" button in the
  58.                "Install from Disk" window.
  59.       Step 9   Select the "OK" button in the "Select Device" window.
  60.       Step 10  After all new drivers are installed, select the "Close" button
  61.                in the "Change Display Type" window.
  62.       Step 11  Remove the diskette from floppy drive A and then select the
  63.                "Apply" or "Close" button in the "Display Properties" window
  64.       Step 12  A windows will appear to ask you to restart Windows 95 now.

  68. 4). Trouble Shooting
  69. ====================

  71.       If in case you are not able to install the WinFast Birdie Windows 95
  72.       drivers. You can try the following suggested methods to override the
  73.       currently used drivers.
  74.  
  75.       Method 1: Use another PCI slot which is unused after the Windows 95
  76.                 is installed, and the Windows 95 will install the device
  77.                 driver(s) for it. (This is Windows 95 Plug and Play feature).

  79.                 Step 1   Power off the PC.
  80.                 Step 2   Remove the WinFast Birdie board and plug to the
  81.                          another unused PCI slot.
  82.                 Step 3   Power on the PC.
  83.                 Step 4   During the booting of Windows 95, a message
  84.                          "New hardware Found PCI VGA Compatible Adapter" must
  85.                          be shown on the screen. This represents Windows 95
  86.                          can not locate the device driver(s) of WinFast Birdie.

  90.       Method 2: Remove the registry of currently used drivers in the Windows 95
  91.                 Safe Mode. (For experienced user)

  93.                 Step 1   Reboot the PC.
  94.                 Step 2   When your system is rebooted and after the appearance
  95.                          of the "Starting Windows 95" message, press the F5
  96.                          key to enter the Windows 95 Safe Mode.
  97.                 Step 3   Select the "Setting" item of "Start" menu.
  98.                 Step 4   Select the "Control Panel" item.
  99.                 Step 5   Double click on the "System" icon.
  100.                 Step 6   Choose the "Device manager" tab.
  101.                 Step 7   Remove all the "Display Adapter" device,
  102.                          "PCI VGA Compatible Adapter" and
  103.                          "PCI VGA Compatible Adapter".
  104.                          Especially the display device that you currently
  105.                          used.
  106.                 Step 8   Use the normal procedure to restart the Windows 95
  107.                          (In the "Shutdown" sub-menu of "Start" menu).
  108.                 Step 9   During the booting of Windows 95, a message
  109.                          "New hardware Found PCI VGA Compatible Adapter" must
  110.                          be shown on the screen. This represents Windows 95
  111.                          can not locate the device driver(s) of WinFast Birdie.

  135.                 Step 10  Delete the currently used display drivers in the
  136.                          Windows SYSTEM directory
  137.                          (e.g. del C:\WIN95\SYSTEM\SUPERVI.*).
  138.                 Step 11  Use the "regedit" program to remove all the
  139.                          "Display Device" in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\PCI
  140.                           registry.

  151. 5). Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  154.  Q: Use the Refresh Rate Control in the Display Property Sheet to switch
  155.     the display card to the high frequency (e.g. 150 Hz), and there is no
  156.     video in the monitor (Cause of the monitor does not support this
  157.     high frequency mode). After the PC is power off and then power on.
  158.     But the Windows 95 always set to the high frequency mode.
