  49. * NOTES ON CONFIGURING PCMCIA ADAPTERS *

  52. 1. For those who installed EMM386.EXE in your CONFIG.SYS
  53.    (DOS),please exclude a range of memory from your system.
  54.  
  55.    Although the Digital EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter uses
  56.    only 4K bytes of Attribute memory, Card Service and
  57.    other system software may require more to function
  58.    properly.It is recommended to reserve at least 8K for
  59.    this purpose.The more PCMCIA cards you intend to use at
  60.    the same time,the more memory you need. The client drivers
  61.    need at least 4k memory for attribute memory .
  62.    The default value is D400-D5FF, So Please Add "X=   "
  63.    by yourself.

  65.    Example 1: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D400-D5FF
  66.  
  67.    This example excludes 8K bytes from EMM386.    This is
  68.    the bare minimum for most Card Services to work.

  70.    Example 2: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-D0FF

  72.    This example excludes only 4K worth of memory.  This
  73.    may not be enough for the Card Service to work.

  80.    2. For the DIGITAL EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter to
  81.       function,the adapter needs to be enabled first.
  82.       In this release,the DOS/ODI driver DECPCM.COM,
  83.       Packet drive DEPCM.COM ,the NDIS 2.0 driver,DEPCM.DOS
  84.       and DEPCM.OS2 , Windows 95 driver DEPCM.SYS and
  85.       Windows NT 3.5X driver DEPCM.SYS have built-in
  86.       enabling capabilities.  For Netware server(DEPCM.LAN)
  87.       and Windows for workgroup ( DEPCM.386 ) drivers only ,
  88.       a separate enabler, DECOPEN.EXE, is provided. DECOPEN
  89.       must be executed first before those other drivers will
  90.       work.

  92.    3. For those who installed Card and Socket Services device
  93.       drivers in yours CONFIG.SYS ( DOS ), please run client
  94.       driver after those device drivers since client driver
  95.       is a Card Services Client and should only be activated
  96.       after the Card and Socket Services drivers are
  97.       activated.

  114. * INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS NT *

  117.       1)  In the Main group of NT, select the Control Panel
  118.       icon.
  119.  
  120.       2)  In the Control Panel window, select the Network
  121.       icon.
  122.  
  123.       3)  In the Network Settings dialog box, select the Add
  124.       Adapter button.
  125.       The Add Network Adapter dialog box appears.
  126.  
  127.       4)  In the list of network cards, select "<other>
  128.       Requires disk from
  129.       manufacturer", and press the <Enter> button.
  130.  
  131.       5)  Insert the driver diskette in a diskette drive.
  132.       Enter drive and pathname (e.g. A:\) and select the
  133.       OK button.
  134.  
  135.       6)  In the Select OEM Option dialog box, you will see
  136.       "Digitale EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter" in the
  137.       menu.Use the OK button to install it.
  138.  
  139.       7)  Next, the Network Card Setup dialog box appears.
  140.       You must specify the "IRQ level" and "I/O Port
  141.       Address" of the adapter.
  142.  
  143.       8)  The installation is now complete.The PCMCIA
  144.       adapter becomes one of the Installed Adapter
  145.       Cards and the driver becomes one of the
  146.       Installed Network Software. You can see
  147.       "[0x]Digitale EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter"
  148.       in the Installed Adapter Cards menu, and "Digital
  149.       EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter Driver" in the
  150.       Installed Network Software menu.
  151.  
  152.       9)  The SETUP program has copied DEPCM.SYS from the
  153.       A:\WINNT\INTEL35 or A:\WINNT\INTEL351 directory
  154.       to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS,and the OEMSETNT.INF
  155.       file from A:\ to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32; but renamed
  156.       it to another installation information file.
  157.       The next time when you add the PCMCIA adapter
  158.       to your system, you do not need the driver
  159.       diskette again.

  161.      10)  To complete network installation, remember to bind
  162.       the adapter to transport drivers by selecting the
  163.       "Bindings" button under the "Network Setting"
  164.       dialog box.

  166.      11)  Restart the system to bring up the network.

  170. * INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS 95 *

  174.     1) Insert the PCMCIA Adapter into the slot.  The system
  175.        displays the "New Hardware Found" window, with
  176.        "DIGITAL-DECPM-XX" as the device name.
  177.  
  178.     2) Select "Drivers from disk provided by hardware
  179.        manufacturer".
  180.  
  181.     3) At the "Install From Disk" window, enter the drive
  182.        letter and path where the device information file
  183.        (.INF file) and device driver can be found
  184.        (e.g.  A:\). Press "OK".  The driver then installs
  185.        itself.

  187.     4) Occasionally, the system may ask for files from the
  188.        Windows 95 distribution disks. Follow the prompt
  189.        until the installation is complete.

  191.     5) Reboot the machine to start the network.
