- * NOTES ON CONFIGURING PCMCIA ADAPTERS *
- ****************************************
-
- 1. For those who installed EMM386.EXE in your CONFIG.SYS
- (DOS),please exclude a range of memory from your system.
-
- Although the Digital EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter uses
- only 4K bytes of Attribute memory, Card Service and
- other system software may require more to function
- properly. It is recommended to reserve at least 8K for
- this purpose. The more PCMCIA cards you intend to use at
- the same time, the more memory you need. The client drivers
- need at least 4k memory for attribute memory .
- The default value is D400-D5FF, So Please Add "X= "
- by yourself.
-
- Example 1: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D400-D5FF
-
- This example excludes 8K bytes from EMM386. This is
- the bare minimum for most Card Services to work.
-
- Example 2: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-D0FF
-
- This example excludes only 4K worth of memory. This
- may not be enough for the Card Service to work.
-
- Example 3: DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-DFFF
-
- This example reserves 64K bytes of memory. This is
- sufficient in most cases.
-
- 2. For the DIGITAL EtherWORKS PCMCIA Turbo Adapter to
- function, the adapter needs to be enabled first.
- In this release,the DOS/ODI driver DECPCM.COM,
- Packet drive DEPCM.COM ,the NDIS 2.0 driver,DEPCM.DOS
- and DEPCM.OS2 , Windows 95 driver DEPCM.SYS and
- Windows NT 3.5X driver DEPCM.SYS have built-in
- enabling capabilities. For Netware server(DEPCM.LAN)
- and Windows for workgroup ( DEPCM.386 ) drivers only ,
- a separate enabler, DECOPEN.EXE, is provided. DECOPEN
- must be executed first before those other drivers will
- work.
-
- 3. For those who installed Card and Socket Services device
- drivers in yours CONFIG.SYS ( DOS ), please run client
- driver after those device drivers since client driver
- is a Card Services Client and should only be activated
- after the Card and Socket Services drivers are
- activated.
-
- Example 1:(DataBook CardTalk)
- DEVICE=SS_2.SYS (Socket Service driver)
- DEVICE=CARDTALK.SYS (Card Service driver)
-
- Example 2:(SystemSoft CardSoft)
- DEVICE=SS365SL.EXE (Socket Service driver)
- DEVICE=CS.EXE (Card Service driver)
- DEVICE=CSALLOC.EXE C:\path\CSALLOC.INI
-
- Example 3:(Phoenix PCMPlus)
- DEVICE=PCMSSDB.EXE (Socket Services driver)
- DEVICE=PCMCS.EXE (Card Service driver)

-
- 9) The SETUP program has copied DEPCM.SYS from the

- to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS,and the OEMSETNT.INF
- file from A:\ to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32; but renamed
