1.0 Introduction
The Graphics device drivers supplied here are for the Microsoft Retail
Release of the Windows NT operating system.
The drivers will substitute 640x480 by 256 colors if the mode selected is
NOT supported by the mach64/mach32/mach8 graphics hardware.

2.0 Installation Notes for Windows NT
This driver package contains:
- ATI.SYS (ATI Graphics miniport driver)
- ATI.DLL (ATI Graphics display driver)
- ATI.INF (setup file used by Windows NT Setup program)
- SSDPMS.SCR (DPMS Screen Saver)
- SSDPMS.HLP
- This README file
They are located in the \NT40 sub-directory.
Procedure:
1. Run the Windows NT Display program located in the Control Panel, under
"Settings" in the Start menu. Alternatively, position the cursor on the
background of the desktop, click the right mouse button, then select
"Properties" from the popup menu.
2. Select the "Settings" page.
3. Select "Display Type...".
4. Select "Change..." from the display options.
5. Select "Have Disk..."
6. NT will prompt you for the correct path, enter A:\NT40 where A: is
the drive containing the mach64 Driver Disk, or enter the drive for the CD-ROM.
7. A list of ATI graphics accelerators will be displayed. Select the one
you are using, then click on the "OK" button.
7. Windows NT will once again prompt for confirmation.
All appropriate files are then copied to the hard disk.
8. Restart Windows NT. Windows NT will start up using the mach64 drivers.
9. NT will boot into a default mode and start the Display applet allowing
for mode selection.
Note: If you select a color depth or resolution not supported by your
card, NT will substitute 640x480 in 256 colors for the display.
2.1 Uninstalling the Windows NT drivers
How to uninstall the mach64 Windows Device Driver. There are TWO ways to
do this without re-installing Windows NT.
ONE method is:
CD \winnt\system32\drivers
ren ATI.sys ATI.ati
Windows NT looks for ATI.SYS drivers at boot time, so if it cannot
find it, it cannot use it.
SECOND method is:
While running Windows NT, execute the Win NT Setup program.
Select a NON-mach64 driver (try VGA-compatible)
*****************************
3.0 Known Problems
Some applications do not handle 24bpp and 32bpp properly resulting in the
colors not looking right.
What to do if "ACCELERATOR not found" message appears:
Is there another adapter card in the system that CONFLICTS with I/O
locations in the 350-35F hex range? Relocate the I/O to 300 to 31F range.
Attempting to run the mach64 Install program under NT will report
"Mach64 Adapter not detected". The Install program must be run from DOS.
