  3. Judy's TenKey makes your calculations easier and more reliable.  If you use 
  4. the default Windows calculator, you'll find that Judy's TenKey gives you 
  5. many advantages (see below).  If you're still using an old-fashioned desktop 
  6. calculator, you'll love the integration Judy's TenKey gives you with your other 
  7. Windows applications.

  9. This document provides a brief description of program capabilities, 
  10. installation instructions, author contact information, and version history.
  11. This document is also distributed in Windows Write format (read_me.wri); you
  12. may find it easier on the eyes.

  15. <<PROGRAM CAPABILITIES>>

  17. SCROLLING TAPE:  Records your calculations in a scrolling list which you can save,
  18. print, and resize (a real help in keeping track of your calculations).  You can 
  19. also modify tape entries, causing the tape to recalculate, or reuse previous 
  20. entries in new calculations (saving typing and reducing errors).

  22. SELECTABLE SYNTAX:  Judy's TenKey can process numbers like a 
  23. scientific calculator (RPN), an adding machine, or a normal calculator.  If 
  24. you are familiar with one and not another, you know how difficult and 
  25. frustrating it can be to try to switch.  Perfect for accountants, engineers, and 
  26. you.

  28. CUSTOMIZABLE DISPLAY:  You can decide how you want your TenKey 
  29. to look (selecting from tape, memory, statistics, functions, trigonometry, 
  30. finance, and number pad options), enabling you to optimize screen usage.  
  31. Any TenKey function can always be activated via the keyboard regardless of 
  32. the current display configuration.

  34. FINANCIAL CALCULATIONS:  Judy's TenKey calculates monthly 
  35. payments for most loans (e.g., cars, houses, etc.), expected investment 
  36. growth, necessary retirement savings, inflation adjustment, and more.  Its 
  37. easy-to-use dialogs lead you through complex calculations, and records
  38. all responses on the tape (which you can later save, modify, etc.).

  40. STATISTICS:  The scrolling tape provides a natural interface for 
  41. statistical calculations, including average value, sum, or even standard 
  42. deviation.  Simply select the desired lines, then press the
  43. appropriate statistics button.

  45. KEEP ON TOP:  You can set Judy's TenKey to stay on top of all other 
  46. windows, so you quickly calculate something even when editing a document 
  47. full-screen.

  49. DECIMAL SETTING:  You can set Judy's TenKey to display the number of 
  50. decimal positions you prefer, ranging from 0 to "as needed".  In fact, you
  51. can configure Judy's TenKey to automatically insert the decimal point for 
  52. you (a real favorite with professional accountants).  If you frequently 
  53. deal with money, you might want to set the decimals to 2 (for cents) or 
  54. 0 (for dollars).

  56. INTELLIGENT COPY & PASTE:  You can copy tape entries to other 
  57. applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Notepad.  You can also 
  58. paste input from these applications.  If extraneous text and special formatting 
  59. are mixed in with your numbers, Judy's TenKey uses heuristic reasoning to 
  60. extract and interpret appropriate information.

  62. EXTRA TOUCHES:  Judy's TenKey remembers your favorite screen 
  63. position and displays itself there every time.  It also uses thousands 
  64. separators (e.g., "1,000,000" versus "1000000"), displays negative numbers in 
  65. red, and allows you to use the backspace key to edit results for further 
  66. calculation.  Judy's TenKey provides an extensive help system, an introductory
  67. demonstration, and a "Tip of the Day" feature.

  69. BETTER PERFORMANCE:  Judy's TenKey enables you to work faster and 
  70. more reliably.  Once you can see (and reuse!) the numbers in your 
  71. calculations, you will never return to the default Windows calculator.

  73. (try subtracting "750.35 - 750.30" using the Microsoft calculator: it

  81. REQUIREMENTS:  Version 3.0 of Judy's TenKey requires Windows version 3.1 
  82. or better (a separate Windows NT version is available) and a 386 or better
  83. processor.  Including the tutorial demonstration, it uses 370K of disk space.

  85. INSTRUCTIONS:  To install Judy's TenKey, simply run its installation 
  86. program (install.exe) from the Windows File Manager.  This installation
  87. program prompts you for additional information, allows you to cancel the 
  88. installation, demonstrates its main features, and even offers to uninstall 
  89. the program if you decide not to keep it.

  91. REGISTRATION:  Judy's TenKey is provided as copyrighted software; the 
  92. registration fee is a modest $19.95.  Registered user receive the latest 
  93. version of the program, as well as a free copy of Judy's CountDown (TM), a 
  94. fun program that helps you track important dates.

  112. or operators, and automatically recalculate results.  New dialog boxes for
  113. financial functions.  "Tip of the Day" feature.  Full support for Windows 3.1 
  114. common dialog boxes, such as File Open (including import of text files), Save, 
  115. and Print (including the option to print only selected tape entries).  Other
  116. improvements include right mouse button tape pop-up menu, ability to "edit"
