  10. Never attempt to Flash your BIOS from a hard disk, DOS Window, DOS 
  11. shell, or in Windows NT. If your system is working without problems 
  12. or conflicts, then it is not recommended that you flash your BIOS. 
  13. Improper flashing procedures may result in a dead system! Follow the 
  14. these instructions carefully.

  30. BIOS Download Instructions
  31.  
  32. Download the xxxxxxxx.EXE file corresponding to your model from the 
  33. EPoX website to an empty directory on your hard disk or floppy. Run 
  34. the downloaded xxxxxxxx.EXE file and it will self extract into the 
  35. above listed files.
  36.  
  37. Copy these extracted files to a bootable DOS floppy disk. Note: the 
  38. DOS floppy disk should contain NO device drivers or other programs 
  39. that load during the boot other than the operating system itself.

  43. BIOS Update Instructions
  44.  
  45. Boot using your DOS floppy disk to the 羨:\> command prompt. At the 
  46. DOS command prompt type: UPDATE
  47.  
  48. When the Flash program completes restart the computer, remove the DOS 
  49. floppy disk, and enter your CMOS setup by pressing the <DEL> key 
  50. immediately. Using the arrow keys select 銑OAD SETUP DEFAULTS and 
  51. when prompt to confirm press 塑 and 薦NTER. Press 詮10 to Save & 
  52. Exit the BIOS. When prompted to confirm again press 塑 and 薦NTER. 
  53. The system flash is now completed.

  55. Note: During the use of UPDATE a backup of your original BIOS 
  56. date/code will be saved in the same directory as the UPDATE file. It 
  57. will be called 前LD.BIN and can be used with the restore 
  58. instructions below in case you need to revert back to the original 
  59. BIOS date/code.

  63. BIOS Restore Instructions
  64.  
  65. Use of the restore procedure requires the OLD.BIN file created in the 
  66. update procedure above! Boot using your DOS floppy disk to the 羨:\> 
  67. command prompt. At the DOS command prompt type: RESTORE
  68.  
  69. When the Flash program completes restart the computer, remove the DOS 
  70. floppy disk, and enter your CMOS setup by pressing the <DEL> key 
  71. immediately. Using the arrow keys select 銑OAD SETUP DEFAULTS and 
  72. when prompt to confirm press 塑 and 薦NTER. Press 詮10 to Save & 
  73. Exit the BIOS. When prompted to confirm again press 塑 and 薦NTER. 
  74. The system flash is now completed and should now be reverted back to 
  75. the original BIOS date/code.

  79. BIOS flash failed
  80.  
  81. If you have access to an old un-accelerated ISA video card, you might 
  82. be able to recover your BIOS. Remove all cards and drives from your 
  83. system, except for the ISA video card and the floppy drive. Then try 
  84. to boot from a system disk (a bootable floppy with only the flash 
  85. programs and corresponding BIOS binary). If you are able to boot to 
  86. the floppy, flash your BIOS according to the directions above.

  90. I get out of memory errors when I flash my BIOS! 
  91.  
  92. On some system configurations, even with a clean boot disk, you will 
  93. get an out of memory error (insufficient memory) when you try to 
  94. flash your BIOS. The solution is simple: Try bypassing the startup 
  95. files by pressing the following keys during startup using you 
  96. bootable floppy disk. Attempt the FLASH again.

  98. DOS 6.2x boot disks - press F5 to bypass. 
  99. WINDOWS 95/98 boot disks - press F8 and select "Safe command prompt." 
  100. Lastly try using a MS-DOS 6.x boot disk.

  104. Manual use of the AWDFLASH Utility
  105.  
  106. Most users will find that our UPDATE and RESTORE batch files can 
  107. accomplish the BIOS flash with the majority of configurations. But if 
  108. you wish to manually use the AWDFLASH utility, below are the most 
  109. common command line usages and parameters.
