  11. This file has been installed as README.TXT, and you can
  12. view it again at any time by double-clicking on the README
  13. Icon in SkyMap's group in Program Manager. Please take the
  14. time to read it. Use the scroll-bar at the right to move
  15. down the text.

  17. SkyMap is Shareware. You may evaluate it for a period of not
  18. more than 30 days. If you find it useful after this period
  19. you must pay for it. Please see the separate registration
  20. forms for details of how to register the program. If you do
  21. not intend to register the program after the evaluation
  22. period you must delete it from your hard disk.

  30. A large star database containing over 88,000 stars down
  31. to magnitude 8.5, compared with the 15,925 stars to
  32. magnitude 7 of this evaluation version.

  35. information, descriptions, and observing notes for the
  36. objects in the deep sky object database.

  38. Unlimited lifetime support.

  40. Notification of upgrades to the program, and information
  41. about new and complementary products.

  43. Optionally, you may also purchase the "GSC" edition of
  44. SkyMap. This has the complete SAO catalog of 259,000 stars
  45. to magnitude 9.5, and also has the ability to display maps
  46. using the 20-million object Hubble Guide Star Catalog
  47. (available separately as a set of two CD-ROMs). The GSC
  48. contains stars down to approximately magnitude 15.

  51. that you are helping to support the Shareware concept, a
  52. distribution system that brings you quality software at
  53. realistic prices.

  56. So what is Shareware?

  59. Shareware is copyrighted software which is distributed by
  60. authors through bulletin boards, on-line services, disk
  61. vendors, and by copies being passed among friends. It is
  62. commercial software that you are allowed to try before you
  63. pay for it. This makes shareware the ultimate in money back
  64. guarantees - if you don't like the product, you don't pay
  65. for it!

  67. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
  68. There is good and bad shareware, just as there is good and
  69. bad retail software. The primary difference between
  70. shareware and retail software is that with shareware you
  71. know if it's good or bad before you pay for it.

  73. You benefit because you get to use the software to determine
  74. whether it meets your needs, before you pay for it.  Authors
  75. benefit because they are able to get their products into
  76. your hands without the expenses it takes to launch a
  77. traditional retail software product.

  80. quality shareware products depend on your willingness to
  81. register and pay for the shareware you use. It is the
  82. registration fees you pay which allow us to support and
  83. continue to develop our products. Please show your support
