  67. 2       Installation instructions
  68.  
  69. 2.1     Preparation
  70.  
  71.         Note: If there were already other GLint based boards
  72.               installed, their referring "oemx.inf" and
  73.               "oemx.pnf" files (where "x" read as numbers) in
  74.               the INF subdirectory of your system have to be
  75.               deleted. This is to ensure that the Plug&Play
  76.               recognition of Windows 2000 is working properly.
  77.  
  78.         Copy all listed driver files to a formatted disk (or a
  79.         temporary directory). Uninstall all display adapter devices
  80.         under CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM/HARDWARE/DEVICE MANAGER/DISPLAY
  81.         ADAPTERS. Remove your floppy disk and reboot your system.

  84. 2.2     Installation
  85.  
  86.         Windows 2000 uses Plug&Play functions to recognize your
  87.         display adapter. Here is how:
  88.  
  89.         1. Device recognized. The "Found New Hardware" wizard
  90.            will guide you.
  91.            - click "Next" - choose option
  92.            "Display a list of the known drivers ..."
  93.            - click "Next"
  94.            - choose "Display Adapters"
  95.            - click "Next"
  96.            - click "Have Disk..."
  97.            - choose the directory from (2.1)
  98.            - click "Ok"
  99.            - choose entry "ELSA GLoria II
  100.            - click "Next"
  101.            - click "Next"
  102.            - click "Yes".
  103.            Now the driver will be installed.
  104.            - click "Finish.

  106.         2. The installtion of the display driver is finished now.
  107.            Remove your floppy disk and reboot your system now.

  109.         Note: Depending on your monitor at the next reboot
  110.               Plug&Play will recognize and install a monitor
  111.               device.

  113. 2.3     Verification
  114.  
  115.         Open CONTROL PANEL/DISPLAY/SETTINGS. Verify that you can
  116.         read "Plug and Play Monitor on ELSA GLoria II".
  117.         You should now be able to use a resolution higher than
  118.         800x600.

  120. 2.4     Adjusting Refresh Frequencies
  121.  
  122.         Click "Advanced" Button on Display Properties Page. Go to
  123.         Monitor Properties Page and use the DropDown-List "Refresh
  124.         Frequency".

  132. 3.1.1   ELSA Application Settings
  133.  
  134.         The ELSA Application Settings allow you to configure the 3D
  135.         options of your ELSA GLoria graphics board. You will find
  136.         this tool as a tab in the display properties.
  137.         You also will find a detailed description by clicking the
  138.         Help key.

  140. 3.1.2   ELSA Info
  141.  
  142.         ELSA Info offers a quick view of all relevant information
  143.         about your hard- and software configuration. First of all,
  144.         this is a diagnostic tool, which should help you in solving
  145.         configuration problems of your graphics system.
  146.         You can redirect all shown information to file or printer.
  147.         The generated output will be helpful in getting quick
  148.         and efficient support from ELSA.
  149.  
  150. 3.1.3   ELSA Settings
  151.  
  152.         The ELSA Settings utility is not shipped with this driver.
  153.         Read the Known Bugs section for a workaround.

  157. 4       Known Bugs / Restrictions
  158.  
  159.         Doing a shutdown->restart on certain machines may sometimes
  160.         cause the system to come up to a black screen.
  161.         In this case, please power-cycle the machine.
  162.  
  163.         Currently the ELSA Settings utility is not supported by the
  164.         display driver. To create new monitor timings we included a
  165.         command line utility named GLIIMODE.exe in the package. It
  166.         can be found in the \Windows\ELSAUTIL subdirectory.
  167.         Start the program with "GLIIMODE /?" for more information.
