  16. Please read this README file and all the supplied documentation 
  17. BEFORE you continue the installation.

  20. 2. Installation Notes 
  21. =================================================================
  22. These drivers require DirectX 6.1 or DirectX 7.0 to support 
  23. DirectDraw & Direct3D applications.
  24.  
  25. InControl Tools 95 shortcuts are not compatible with Windows 98 
  26. and InControl Tools 98. It is important to uninstall any previous
  27. version of InControl Tools (e.g. InControl Tools 95) before 
  28. installation of InControl Tools 99. Uninstall from the Control 
  29. Panel by:
  30.     1.  Choosing "Add/Remove Programs"
  31.     2.  Select "Diamond Multimedia Product Installation & Removal"
  32.     3.  Click on the "Add/Remove" button
  33.     4.  Then follow the uninstall process.
  34.  
  35. Preparing to install the Windows 9x Drivers
  36. -----------------------------------------------------------------
  37. Before installing the Diamond SpeedStar A200 Windows 9x display 
  38. drivers, switch your display driver to the "Standard VGA".
  39.     1. Open your Control Panel and select Display.  
  40.     2. Select the Settings tab and click the Change Display Type 
  41.     button.
  42.     3. Click the Change button.  
  43.     4. Select the Show All Devices radio button and scroll to the 
  44.     top of the left window and select Standard Display Types.
  45.     5. In the right window select Standard Display Adapter (VGA). 
  46.     Click OK.

  49. 3. Installation Instructions

  51. Manual Installation via .inf:
  52. -----------------------------------------------------------------
  53. Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
  54.  
  55. Start the "Display" applet program. 
  56.  
  57. Select the "Settings" page, push the "Change Display Type" 
  58. button. Push the "Change" button in the "Adapter Type" area.
  59.  
  60. Push the "Have Disk" button and press "OK".
  61.  
  62. Specify the path to the new drivers' .inf file and press the 
  63.       <ENTER> key:
  64.       Example 1: Insert the drivers disk in the A: floppy drive,
  65.                  and enter A:\.
  66.       Example 2: Type in the name of the directory where you 
  67.                  copied the drivers, either on your local hard 
  68.                  drive or on a network shared drive.
  69.       Example 3: If you're not sure exactly where the drivers 
  70.                  are, choose the "Browse..." button and find them.
  71.  
  72. The "Select Device" dialog box will appear. Select the adapter 
  73. that corresponds to the one you installed in your machine and 
  74. click OK.

  76. Windows will copy the display drivers to the proper 
  77. directories on your system.

  79. Continue choosing Close until asked to restart your machine from 
  80. the "Systems Settings Change" dialog box.

  82. After the system has restarted, you can go back into the Display
  83. applet and select alternate screen resolutions, color depths and 
  84. related features.

  87. 4. Known Issues

  89. Known driver issues will be addressed in future updates and 
  90. made available on the Diamond website.

  95. InControl Tools (ICT)99:
  96. InControl Tools 99 shortcuts require a system reboot to take  
  97. effect when running under Windows 98.
  98. Diamond ICT99 "Internet Sites" popup requires IE3.0 or above or 
  99. Netscape Communicator 4.51 or above.

  101. After uninstalling the Update Wizard with Windows 950a or 950b, 
  102. reboot your machine to remove Start Menu entries.
