Windows NT Setup Procedure for DC-390U/W/F/U2(T) PCI SCSI Host Adapter

1. DC-390U/W/F/U2(T) PCI SCSI driver package for Windows NT includes
the following directories and files:
\txtsetup.oem -- Text setup file
\dcscsi -- Text setup tag file
\WINNT

2. Performing a Windows NT installation.
(Install Windows NT and DC-390U/W/F/U2 Host adapter at the same time)
2.1 Insert the Microsoft Windows NT Setup Diskette for CD-ROM into
the drive "A:" on a computer for installing the Windows NT
system.
Note: If you have not Windows NT Setup diskettes, you can create
these diskettes from Windows NT CD-ROM. Your need to prepare
three blank formatted 3.5" floppy diskettes. Boot your system
in DOS system, change drive to CD-ROM drive.
(if your CD-ROM drive letter is D:)
1. D: (enter)
Then change to directory i386
2. cd \i386 (enter)
Run winnt /OX
3.winnt /OX (enter)
This will generate three setup diskettes for Windows NT, then
you can use these three setup diskette to install Windows NT
and follow the Setup procedure from 2.1 to 2.9.
2.2 Boot the computer and the first screen from NT will show:
Welcome to Setup
Simply press "ENTER" to continue.
2.3 The next screen will show:
Windows NT provides two Setup methods .....
Press "C" to run the custom setup.
2.4 Press "S" to skip mass storage device detection, the next
screen will show:
Setup has recognized the following SCSI Adapters in your
computer:
(none)
You need to configure additional SCSI adapter by pressing "S",
and continue the following steps to install NT system.
2.5 On the next screen, NT will show the available drivers to
add. The DC-390U/W/F/U2 driver is in the category of:
Other (Required disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)
Select this category and press "ENTER".
2.6 NT will prompt to insert into the drive "A:" a diskette:
Manufacturer-supplied support disk
Insert the DC-390U/W/F/U2 driver diskette in drive "A" and then
press "ENTER".
2.7 NT will check the floppy diskette and show:
"Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT 3.51 - 4.x PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX"
"Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT 3.1 - 3.5 PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX"
Please select the NT version you want to install and press
"ENTER".
2.8 After NT scan the hardware and find the controller, it will
display:
Setup has recognized the following SCSI Adapters in your
computer:
Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX
Press "ENTER" to continue.
2.9 NT will now display the components in the computer. After
making corrections if any, the user should continue the
remaining installation of Windows NT.
3. Add a SCSI Host Adapter
3.1 Boot Windows NT system.
3.2 Select and Start Windows NT Setup icon.
(This icon can be found in the Main Program group)
3.3 Select Option pull-down menu and chose the Add/Remove SCSI
Adapters.
3.4 Select Add button. Expand the adapter type list and select
"Other (Requires a disk form a hardware manufacturer)" to
add DC-390U/W/F/U2 PCI SCSI adapter.
3.5 NT will prompt to insert into the drive "A:" a diskette:
Manufacturer-supplied support disk
Insert the DC-390U/W/F/U2 driver diskette into driver "A" and
retype path to "a:\winnt\3_1-3_5" for NT 3.1 and 3.5 or
retype path to "a:\winnt\3_51-4_X" for NT 3.51 and 4.x.
3.6 Windows NT will read files on floppy diskette, and prompt
"Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver ver xxx"
Select "OK" button
3.7 Windows NT will display
"Adapter: Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT ver x PCI SCSI Driver ver xxx"
Select "Install" button
At this point, if the specific driver has already been
installed, NT will display floowing message:
"The drivers for this adapter are already on the system"
Select "Current" if you want to use existing driver, or
select "New" if you want to replace the old drivers.
3.8 Select "OK" button to return to Windows NT Setup program.
4. Remove a SCSI Host Adapter
4.1 Boot Windows NT system.
4.2 Select and Start Windows NT Setup icon.
(This icon can be found in the Main Program group)
4.3 Select Option pull-down menu and chose the Add/Remove SCSI
Adapters.
4.4 Expand the adapter type list and select
specific scsi adapter you want to remove and click remove
button to delete the adapter.
