  4.        Windows NT  Setup Procedure for DC-390U/W/F/U2(T) PCI SCSI Host Adapter

  7.     1. DC-390U/W/F/U2(T) PCI SCSI driver package for Windows NT includes
  8.        the following directories and files:
  9.  
  10.        \txtsetup.oem -- Text setup file
  11.        \dcscsi     -- Text setup tag file
  12.        \WINNT
  13.            ﾃ-> readme.nt (This File)
  14.            ｳ
  15.            ﾃ-> 3_1-3_5
  16.            ｳ     ﾃ----- trm390w.sys -- device driver for NT ver 3.1 & 3.5
  17.            ｳ     ﾀ----- trm390w.inf -- device information file
  18.            ｳ
  19.            ﾀ-> 3_51-4_X
  20.              ﾃ----- trm390w.sys -- device driver for NT ver 3.51 & 4.x

  23.     2. Performing a Windows NT installation.
  24.        (Install Windows NT and DC-390U/W/F/U2 Host adapter at the same time)

  26.        2.1 Insert the Microsoft Windows NT Setup Diskette for CD-ROM into
  27.            the drive "A:" on a computer for installing the Windows NT
  28.            system.
  29.  
  30.       Note: If you have not Windows NT Setup diskettes, you can create
  31.         these diskettes from Windows NT CD-ROM. Your need to prepare
  32.         three blank formatted 3.5" floppy diskettes.  Boot your system
  33.         in DOS system, change drive to CD-ROM drive.
  34.  
  35.         (if your CD-ROM drive letter is D:)
  36.          1. D: (enter)
  37.  
  38.         Then change to directory i386
  39.          2. cd \i386 (enter)
  40.  
  41.         Run winnt /OX
  42.  
  43.          3.winnt /OX (enter)
  44.  
  45.            This will generate three setup diskettes for Windows NT, then
  46.            you can use these three setup diskette to install Windows NT
  47.            and follow the Setup procedure from 2.1 to 2.9.

  50.        2.2 Boot the computer and the first screen from NT will show:

  52.           Welcome to Setup
  53.  
  54.           Simply press "ENTER" to continue.
  55.  
  56.        2.3 The next screen will show:
  57.  
  58.           Windows NT provides two Setup methods .....
  59.  
  60.           Press "C" to run the custom setup.
  61.  
  62.  
  63.        2.4 Press "S" to skip mass storage device detection, the next
  64.            screen will show:

  66.            Setup has recognized the following SCSI Adapters in your
  67.            computer:

  69.            (none)

  72.            You need to configure additional SCSI adapter by pressing "S",
  73.            and continue the following steps to install NT system.

  76.        2.5 On the next screen, NT will show the available drivers to
  77.            add. The DC-390U/W/F/U2 driver is in the category of:
  78.  
  79.            Other (Required disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)
  80.  
  81.            Select this category and press "ENTER".
  82.  
  83.        2.6 NT will prompt to insert into the drive "A:" a diskette:

  85.            Manufacturer-supplied support disk
  86.  
  87.            Insert the DC-390U/W/F/U2 driver diskette in drive "A" and then
  88.            press "ENTER".

  90.        2.7 NT will check the floppy diskette and show:

  92.            "Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT 3.51 - 4.x PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX"
  93.            "Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT 3.1  - 3.5 PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX"

  95.            Please select the NT version you want to install and press
  96.            "ENTER".

  98.        2.8 After NT scan the hardware and find the controller, it will
  99.            display:

  101.            Setup has recognized the following SCSI Adapters in your
  102.            computer:

  104.            Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX
  105.  
  106.            Press "ENTER" to continue.
  107.  
  108.        2.9 NT will now display the components in the computer. After
  109.            making corrections if any, the user should continue the
  110.            remaining installation of Windows NT.

  113.     3. Add a SCSI Host Adapter
  114.  
  115.        3.1 Boot Windows NT system.
  116.  
  117.        3.2 Select and Start Windows NT Setup icon.
  118.            (This icon can be found in the Main Program group)
  119.  
  120.        3.3 Select Option pull-down menu and chose the Add/Remove SCSI
  121.            Adapters.
  122.  
  123.        3.4 Select Add button. Expand the adapter type list and select
  124.            "Other (Requires a disk form a hardware manufacturer)" to
  125.            add DC-390U/W/F/U2 PCI SCSI adapter.

  127.        3.5 NT will prompt to insert into the drive "A:" a diskette:
  128.  
  129.            Manufacturer-supplied support disk
  130.  
  131.            Insert the DC-390U/W/F/U2 driver diskette into driver "A" and
  132.            retype path to "a:\winnt\3_1-3_5" for NT 3.1 and 3.5 or
  133.            retype path to "a:\winnt\3_51-4_X" for NT 3.51 and 4.x.

  135.        3.6 Windows NT will read files on floppy diskette, and prompt
  136.            "Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver ver xxx"
  137.  
  138.            Select "OK" button
  139.  
  140.        3.7 Windows NT will display
  141.            "Adapter: Tekram DC-390U/W/F/U2 NT ver x PCI SCSI Driver ver xxx"

  143.            Select "Install" button
  144.  
  145.            At this point, if the specific driver has already been
  146.            installed, NT will display floowing message:
  147.  
  148.            "The drivers for this adapter are already on the system"
  149.  
  150.  
  151.            Select "Current" if you want to use existing driver, or
  152.            select "New" if you want to replace the old drivers.

  154.        3.8 Select "OK" button to return to Windows NT Setup program.

  157.     4. Remove a SCSI Host Adapter
  158.  
  159.        4.1 Boot Windows NT system.
  160.  
  161.        4.2 Select and Start Windows NT Setup icon.
  162.            (This icon can be found in the Main Program group)

  164.        4.3 Select Option pull-down menu and chose the Add/Remove SCSI
  165.            Adapters.

  167.        4.4 Expand the adapter type list and select
  168.            specific scsi adapter you want to remove and click remove
  169.            button to delete the adapter.
