  4.     Windows NT  Setup Procedure for DC-390 PCI SCSI Host Adapter
  5.     ___________________________________________________________________

  7.     1. DC-390 PCI SCSI driver package for Windows NT includes
  8.        the following directories and files:
  9.  
  10.        \txtsetup.oem -- Text setup file
  11.        \dcscsi     -- Text setup tag file
  12.        \WINNT
  13.            ﾃ-> readme.nt (This File)
  14.            ｳ
  15.            ﾃ-> 3_1-3_5
  16.            ｳ     ﾃ----- trm390.sys -- device driver for NT ver 3.1 & 3.5
  17.            ｳ     ﾀ----- trm390.inf -- device information file
  18.            ｳ
  19.            ﾀ-> 3_51-4_X
  20.              ﾃ----- trm390.sys -- device driver for NT ver 3.51 & 4.x

  24.     2. Performing a Windows NT installation.
  25.        (Install Windows NT and DC-390 Host adapter at the same time)
  26.  
  27.        2.1 Insert the Microsoft Windows NT Setup Diskette for CD-ROM into
  28.            the drive "A:" on a computer for installing the Windows NT
  29.            system.
  30.  
  31.       Note: If you have not Windows NT Setup diskettes, you can create
  32.         these diskettes from Windows NT CD-ROM. Your need to prepare
  33.         three blank formatted 3.5" floppy diskettes.  Boot your system
  34.         in DOS system, change drive to CD-ROM drive.
  35.  
  36.         (if your CD-ROM drive letter is D:)
  37.          1. D: (enter)
  38.  
  39.         Then change to directory i386
  40.          2. cd \i386 (enter)
  41.  
  42.         Run winnt /OX
  43.  
  44.          3.winnt /OX (enter)
  45.  
  46.            This will generate three setup diskettes for Windows NT, then
  47.            you can use these three setup diskette to install Windows NT
  48.            and follow the Setup procedure from 2.1 to 2.9.

  51.        2.2 Boot the computer and the first screen from NT will show:

  53.           Welcome to Setup
  54.  
  55.           Simply press "ENTER" to continue.
  56.  
  57.        2.3 The next screen will show:
  58.  
  59.           Windows NT provides two Setup methods .....
  60.  
  61.           Press "C" to run the custom setup.
  62.  
  63.  
  64.        2.4 Press "S" to skip mass storage device detection, the next
  65.            screen will show:

  67.            Setup has recognized the following SCSI Adapters in your
  68.            computer:

  70.            (none)
  71.

  73.            You need to configure additional SCSI adapter by pressing "S",
  74.            and continue the following steps to install NT system.

  77.        2.5 On the next screen, NT will show the available drivers to
  78.            add. The DC-390 driver is in the category of:
  79.  
  80.            Other (Required disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)
  81.  
  82.            Select this category and press "ENTER".
  83.  
  84.        2.6 NT will prompt to insert into the drive "A:" a diskette:

  86.            Manufacturer-supplied support disk
  87.  
  88.            Insert the DC-390 driver diskette in drive "A" and then
  89.            press "ENTER".

  91.        2.7 NT will check the floppy diskette and show:

  93.            "Tekram DC-390 NT 3.51 & 4.x PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX"
  94.            "Tekram DC-390 NT 3.1  & 3.5 PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX"

  96.            Please select the NT version you want to install and press
  97.            "ENTER".

  99.        2.8 After NT scan the hardware and find the controller, it will
  100.            display:

  102.            Setup has recognized the following SCSI Adapters in your
  103.            computer:

  105.            Tekram DC-390 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver Ver. XXX
  106.  
  107.            Press "ENTER" to continue.
  108.  
  109.        2.9 NT will now display the components in the computer. After
  110.            making corrections if any, the user should continue the
  111.            remaining installation of Windows NT.

  114.     3. Add a SCSI Host Adapter
  115.  
  116.        3.1 Boot Windows NT system.
  117.  
  118.        3.2 Select and Start Windows NT Setup icon.
  119.            (This icon can be found in the Main Program group)
  120.  
  121.        3.3 Select Option pull-down menu and chose the Add/Remove SCSI
  122.            Adapters.
  123.  
  124.        3.4 Select Add button. Expand the adapter type list and select
  125.            "Other (Requires a disk form a hardware manufacturer)" to
  126.            add DC-390 PCI SCSI adapter.

  128.        3.5 NT will prompt to insert into the drive "A:" a diskette:

  130.            Manufacturer-supplied support disk
  131.  
  132.            Insert the DC-390 driver diskette into driver "A" and
  133.            retype path to "a:\winnt\3_1-3_5" for NT 3.1 and  3.5 or
  134.            retype path to "a:\winnt\3_51-4_x" for NT 3.51 and 4.x.

  136.        3.6 Windows NT will read files on floppy diskette, and prompt
  137.            "Tekram DC-390 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver ver xxx"
  138.  
  139.            Select "OK" button
  140.  
  141.        3.7 Windows NT will display
  142.            "Adapter: Tekram DC-390 NT ver xxx PCI SCSI Driver ver xxx"

  144.            Select "Install" button
  145.  
  146.            At this point, if the specific driver has already been
  147.            installed, NT will display floowing message:
  148.  
  149.            "The drivers for this adapter are already on the system"
  150.  
  151.  
  152.            Select "Current" if you want to use existing driver, or
  153.            select "New" if you want to replace the old drivers.

  155.        3.8 Select "OK" button to return to Windows NT Setup program.

  158.     4. Remove a SCSI Host Adapter
  159.  
  160.        4.1 Boot Windows NT system.
  161.  
  162.        4.2 Select and Start Windows NT Setup icon.
  163.            (This icon can be found in the Main Program group)
  164.  
  165.        4.3 Select Option pull-down menu and chose the Add/Remove SCSI
  166.            Adapters.

  168.        4.4 Expand the adapter type list and select
  169.            specific scsi adapter you want to remove and click remove
  170.            button to delete the adapter.
