  4. LAN Server installation notes for Intel EtherExpress(TM) PRO/100+ PCI LAN
  5. Adapters:

  8. Location of files:  \NDIS\E100B.OS2   (OS/2* driver)

  16. NOTE: LAN Requester needs DOS 3.3 through 5, but if you're using DOS 6.0
  17.       or higher, run SETVER.EXE prior to using the executable files found
  18.       on the DOS LAN Requester disks. See your DOS manual if you need
  19.       help with SETVER.EXE.

  22. Sample configuration file

  31. General installation - LAN Server and OS/2 Requester (4.0 or 3.0)

  34. 1  Run the MPTS utility with LAN Server 4.0 or OS/2 Requester 4.0 (Run
  35.    the LAPS utility with LAN Server 3.0 or OS/2 Requester 3.0)
  36.  
  37. 2  Click Install.
  38.  
  39. 3  When prompted, insert the Intel Configuration and Drivers disk in a
  40.    floppy drive, specify A:\NDIS for driver location, and click OK.
  41.  
  42. 4  When Install reads the E100BEO2.NIF, installation is complete. Click
  43.    OK.  The adapter driver has been copied to your system.
  44.  
  45. 5  Click Configure from the MPTS window.
  46.  
  47. 6  At the Configure window, make sure the LAN adapters and protocols
  48.    button is on and click CONFIGURE.
  49.  
  50. 7  At the LAPS Configuration window, select the Intel EtherExpress
  51.    PRO/100+ adapter (OS/2 driver: E100B.OS2) from the Network Adapters
  52.    window.
  53.    
  54.    Click Add in the Network Adapter window to add the PRO/100+ PCI
  55.    adapter to the current configuration.
  56.  
  57. 8  Select your desired Protocol(s) from the Protocol window and click Add
  58.    from this window to add the protocol(s) to the current configuration.
  59.  
  60. 9  Click OK when you're done and follow the prompts to exit MPTS. Your
  61.    CONFIG.SYS is automatically updated.
  62.    
  63.    Shutdown and reset your system so the changes can take effect.

  65.  
  66. General installation under DOS (DOS LAN Services)
  67. =================================================
  68.  
  69. NOTE: Due to a problem with the DLS installation utility, you need to
  70.       complete the following steps before executing the installation of
  71.       DLS:
  72.    
  73.       1  On DLS Diskette 1, make a directory off the root called NDIS.
  74.       
  75.       2  Copy the file E100B.DOS (from the \NDIS directory of the Intel
  76.          Configuration and Drivers) into this new directory \NDIS on DLS
  77.          Diskette 1.
  78.  
  79. 1  Run the DOS LAN Services installation program at the DOS workstation.
  80.    Follow the prompts.
  81.  
  82. 2  When presented with an adapter list, select Network card not shown in
  83.    list below.
  84.  
  85. 3  When prompted for the location of the OEMSETUP.INF file, insert the
  86.    Intel Configuration and Drivers disk in your drive and enter A:\NDIS
  87.    as the path.
  88.  
  89. 4  Select the Intel EtherExpress PRO/100+ adapter from the list.  Follow
  90.    the prompts.
  91.  
  92. 5  Enter your machine name, username and domain name.
  93.  
  94. 6  Set the options as you need; then highlight "The listed options are
  95.    correct" and press Enter.
  96.  
  97. 7  Accept the defaults on the next screen, highlight "The listed options
  98.    are correct" and press Enter.
  99.  
  100. 8  Set the Speed, Duplex mode, or Slot Device if needed. We recommend
  101.    accepting the defaults. Then highlight "The listed options are
  102.    correct" and press Enter.
  103.  
  104. 9  You may be asked to insert DLS disks. Follow the prompts to complete
  105.    the installation and restart your computer for changes to take effect.

  108. General Installation under DOS: LAN Support Program (LSP)
  109. =========================================================
  110.  
  111. 1  Run DXMAID from the LAN Support Program disk.
  112.  
  113. 2  Follow the prompts and instructions.
  114.  
  115. 3  When prompted, insert the Intel Configuration and Drivers disk and
  116.    enter the pathname A:\NDIS.
  117.  
  118. 4  The default configuration is suitable for most environments.  We
  119.    recommend accepting the defaults.
  120.  
  121. 5  After the installation is complete, restart your computer for the
  122.    changes to take affect.

  125. General Installation under DOS (DOS LAN Requester)
  126. ==================================================
  127.  
  128. 1  Run the DOS LAN Requester installation program at the DOS workstation.
  129.    Follow the prompts to configure your DOS LAN Requester as you require.
  130.  
  131. 2  After the installation is complete, restart your computer for the
  132.    changes to take affect.
  133.  
  134.  
  135. Advanced settings
  136. =================
  137.    
  138.    SPEED: (optional; parameters are [Auto / 10 / 100]) The parameter
  139.       disables Auto-Speed Detect and causes the adapter to function at
  140.       the speed indicated. If the FORCEDUPLEX parameter is assigned to
  141.       either 1 or 2, the SPEED parameter is required because auto-speed
  142.       sensing is disabled if the duplex mode is forced. Auto-negotiate
  143.       devices cannot detect speed changes in this configuration until the
  144.       driver is reloaded.[Example: SPEED=100]
  145.    
  146.    FORCEDUPLEX: Full duplex and auto-negotiate capabilities vary between
  147.       the PRO/100 TX and the PRO/100 T4 adapters.
  148.  
  149.          EtherExpress PRO/100+ TX adapter: Supports auto-negotiate, full
  150.          and half duplex at 10 or 100 Mbps.
  151.  
  152.          EtherExpress PRO/100B T4 adapter: Supports full and half duplex
  153.          at 10 Mbps; supports only half duplex at 100 Mbps.  Auto-
  154.          negotiate is not a valid option at either speed.
  155.    
  156.       This parameter disables Auto-Negotiate capability and forces the
  157.       adapter to operate in Half or Full Duplex mode. The SPEED parameter
  158.       must be specified and must be valid if the default of Auto-
  159.       negotiate is changed. Options for FORCEDUPLEX are Auto (for auto-
  160.       negotiate), 1 (for half), 2 (for full). [Example: FORCEDUPLEX = 2]
  161.    
  162.    SLOT: (required for multiple adapters) This parameter is optional if
  163.       only one adapter is present.  If it is specified but is incorrect,
  164.       a message indicates that the value doesn't match the configuration
  165.       but the driver finds the adapter and loads anyway.
  166.    
  167.       This parameter is required if more than one adapter is present in
  168.       either one bus or multiple PCI buses of a system. The parameter
  169.       tells the driver which adapter it controls. The SLOT number is the
  170.       encoded value of the PCI adapter's device location. To determine
  171.       the slot number, load the driver with only the DRIVERNAME parameter
  172.       specified.  The driver reports all the slots that have PCI
  173.       adapter(s) installed. You can determine which card is in which slot
  174.       by using SETUP.EXE and matching the Ethernet addresses of the
  175.       adapter to the device number specified in View Configuration.
