  1.                   SiS IDE Driver Installation For Windows

  4. 01) Run INSTALL.EXE in the install utility diskette to install
  5.     SiS IDE WINDOWS PIO mode driver or SiS IDE Windows DMA mode driver.

  7. 02) The INSTALL.EXE program will add the following lines in the
  8.     [386Enh] section of SYSTEM.INI file in your windows directory :
  9.  
  10.             "device=siswindv.386"
  11.             "device=int13.386"        for PIO mode driver
  12.          or
  13.             "device=siswindv.386"
  14.             "device=int13.386"
  15.             "sis_master=on"           for DMA mode driver.
  16.  
  17.     You can Uninstall the SiS IDE Windows driver by using the INSTALL.EXE
  18.     program's uninstall function or directly adding a ';' or '*' symbol in
  19.     front of the above lines between quotation marks.

  21.     For example : "siswindv.386" change to ";device=siswindv.386"
  22.  
  23.     Also, you can run a PIO mode driver after installing a DMA mode driver
  24.     by changing the setting "sis_master=on"
  25.                        into ";sis_master=on"
  26.                         or  "sis_master=off"
  27.  
  28. 03) After installing the IDE driver, you can turn on the 32-Bit Disk Access
  29.     and 32-bit File Access (32-Bit File Access only available in WINDOWS FOR
  30.     WORKGROUP) to improve performance
  31.       To change disk access and file access :
  32.       a) Enter WINDOWS and choose the "386 Enhance" icon from "Control Panel".
  33.       b) Choose the "Virtual Memory" button.
  34.       c) Choose the "Change" button.
  35.       d) Change the appropriate settings.
  36.       e) Choose the "OK" button.
  37.       f) In the "Virtual Memory" dialog box, choose the "Yes" button.

  39. 04) It is a limitation that the hard disk can not work with CD-ROM on the
  40.     same channel when 32-Bit File Access is on. You should either install
  41.     the devices in different channels or turn the 32-Bit File Access off.
