  3.                               UPDATE FLASH BIOS
  4.                               =================

  7.         This document explains how to use the FLASH.EXE utility to 
  8.         update your system BIOS.
  9.

  12.         *                        WARNING !!                          *
  13.         *                        ==========                          *
  14.         *                                                            *
  15.         *  FLASH BIOS, together with FLASH.EXE utility, allows you   *
  16.         *  to update your system BIOS without changing the BIOS      *
  17.         *  chip. However, if you accidently write something wrong    *
  18.         *  instead of the correct BIOS code into FLASH BIOS, the     *
  19.         *  system may not be bootable anymore. Should this happen,   *
  20.         *  the only remedy is to replace the BIOS chip. Please read  *
  21.         *  this document carefully before start updating your FLASH  *
  22.         *  BIOS.                                                     *

  27.         1. Please make sure that your motherboard BIOS is FLASH BIOS
  28.            and related "BIOS Type Selection" jumpers, if applicable, 
  29.            are set correctly.
  30.  
  31.         2. Boot your system from MS-DOS system diskette which contains 
  32.            neither CONFIG.SYS nor AUTOEXEC.BAT files.
  33.            
  34.         3. Change to the directory which contains both FLASH.EXE and
  35.            new BIOS code.
  36.  
  37.         4. Type "FLASH NEW_BIOS", then press "ENTER". (NOTE: NEW_BIOS
  38.            is the file name of the new BIOS code.)
  39.  
  40.         5. The FLASH utility will show the following message:
  41.  
  42.                 "Do You Want To Save Bios(Y/N)"
  43.  
  44.            By typing "Y" will save the old BIOS code in a file. We 
  45.            strongly recommend you to save a copy of the old BIOS code.
  46.  
  47.         6. After saving the old BIOS code, the FLASH utility will show
  48.            the following message:
  49.  
  50.                 "Are you sure to program(y/n)"
  51.  
  52.            By typing "Y" will start writing the new BIOS code into the
  53.            FLASH BIOS.
  54.  
  55.         7. After the new BIOS code has been written to the FLASH BIOS,
  56.            the system may reboot by itself, or the FLASH utility will 
  57.            show the following message:
  58.  
  59.                 "Please Power Off or Reset System !"
  60.  
  61.            At this time, you may turn off power and restart your system
  62.            or simply press the "RESET" button to reboot.
  63.  
  64.            During the boot sequence, you may press "DEL" key to get into 
  65.            the BIOS setup menu to re-configure your system or to load 
  66.            the new default values.
