  23. The Graphics device drivers supplied here are for the Microsoft Retail
  24. Release of the Windows NT 3.51 operating system.
  25.  
  26. The drivers will substitute 640x480 by 256 colors if the mode selected is
  27. NOT supported by the mach64/mach32/mach8 graphics hardware.

  66. This driver package contains:

  68.   - ATI.SYS        (ATI Graphics miniport driver)
  69.   - ATI.DLL        (ATI Graphics display  driver)
  70.   - OEMSETUP.INF   (setup files used by Windows NT Setup program)
  71.   - TXTSETUP.OEM
  72.   - SSDPMS.SCR     (DPMS Screen Saver)

  79. Procedure:
  80.  
  81. 1. Run the Windows NT Display program located in the Control Panel, Main
  82.    group.
  83.  
  84. 2. Select Change Display Type.
  85.  
  86. 3. Select Change... from the display options.
  87.  
  88. 4. Select Other...
  89.  
  90. 5. NT will prompt you for the correct path, enter A:\NT351 where A: is
  91.    the drive containing the mach64 Driver Disk, or enter the drive for the CD-ROM.
  92.  
  93. 6. An "ATI Graphics Accelerators" option will appear after reading the diskette/CD;
  94.    with this option selected, click on the INSTALL button.
  95.  
  96. 7. Windows NT will once again prompt for confirmation.
  97.    All appropriate files are then copied to the hard disk.
  98.  
  99. 8. Restart Windows NT.  Windows NT will start up using the mach64 drivers.
  100.  
  101. 9. NT will boot into 640x480 mode and start the Display applet allowing
  102.    for mode selection.
  103.  
  104. Note: If you select a color depth or resolution not supported by your
  105.       card, NT will substitute 640x480 in 256 colors for the display.

  108. 2.1     Uninstalling the Windows NT drivers
  109.  
  110. How to uninstall the mach64 Windows Device Driver.  There are TWO ways to
  111. do this without re-installing Windows NT.
  112.  
  113. ONE method is:
  114.     CD \winnt351\system32\drivers
  115.     ren ATI.sys  ATI.ati
  116.  
  117.     Windows NT looks for ATI.SYS drivers at boot time, so if it cannot
  118.     find it, it cannot use it.

  120. SECOND method is:
  121.     While running Windows NT, execute the Win NT Setup program.
  122.     Select a NON-mach64 driver  (try VGA-compatible)

  126. 3.0     Known Problems
  127.  
  128. Some applications do not handle 24bpp and 32bpp properly resulting in the
  129. colors not looking right.
  130.  
  131. What to do if "ACCELERATOR not found" message appears:
  132.  
  133. Is there another adapter card in the system that CONFLICTS with I/O
  134. locations in the 350-35F hex range?  Relocate the I/O to 300 to 31F range.
  135.  
  136. Attempting to run the mach64 Install program under NT will report
  137. "Mach64 Adapter not detected".  The Install program must be run from DOS.
  138.  
  139. In certain instances after returning from a full-screen DOS session, the
  140. mouse pointer may appear as a black square on the screen.  For example, if
  141. you run "Introducing Windows NT," and move the mouse pointer off-screen before
  142. entering full-screen, then after you return to the desktop, this effect may
  143. appear.  This is a problem with NT's GDI.

  147. 4.0     Reporting Problems
  148.  
  149. If you experience any difficulties, open the file REPORT.TXT and complete
  150. the Problem Report form.
