  4. This file contains additional information to supplement the manual.
  5. Please read all the sections before you proceed with the installation.

  16. 1. INSTALLATION/UNINSTALLTION
  17.  
  18.    The  installation  is  different for  diskette  and for CD.  The  diskette
  19.    installation  includes  setup of display  drivers  and the  BlasterControl
  20.    application, both of which is not available from the CD setup.
  21.  
  22.    If you  do not  have the  CD you should  have the CD files in a hard  disk.
  23.    During installation, you can browse your hard disk and give the location of
  24.    the source files you copied from the CD.
  25.  
  26.    Before un-installing the software, ensure that all the programs are closed.
  27.    The BlasterControl Hotkey might still  be running in the  background, so it
  28.    will not be  removed. To close it, right-click  on its icon in the taskbar,
  29.    and select "Close" from the menu. Then run the setup.

  32. 2. BLASTERCONTROL LIMITATIONS
  33.  
  34.     a)  BlasterControl only works in 256 colors and above.
  35.  
  36.     b)  BlasterControl Hotkey is only able to switch resolution, but not color
  37.         depth.

  40. 3. CREATIVE SOFTMPEG
  41.  
  42.     a)  Creative SoftMPEG is using Compcore SoftPEG drivers for the MPEG video
  43.         playback. For enhanced performance with the Graphics Blaster:
  44.  
  45.         i)   Run in 640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768 resolutions in 256 colors or
  46.              16-bit  color  depth  for  best  performance. If you want to use
  47.              1280x1024 resolution, please switch  to 256  colors  mode. These
  48.              resolutions have full Direct  Draw support.

  50.         ii)  In the configure dialog, set the Video Display to Best Frame Rate
  51.              or Best Picture.
  52.  
  53.         iii) There  are  certain  Windows 95  CD-ROM  drivers  that  may  have
  54.              problems reading MPEG files on CD or Video CDs. Please check with
  55.              your CD-ROM  vendor for more  information. On  a Pentium  133 you
  56.              should be  able to playback  MPEG files  on Full Screen from Hard
  57.              Disk or a Quad Speed CD-ROM drive.

  60. 4. AUTODESK ADI 4.2 DRIVER ISSUES
  61.  
  62.     a)  Be  sure to change  your ACADDRV  environment to the installed path of
  63.         your ADI drivers.
  64.  
  65.                 e.g. SET ACADDRV=<installed path>
  66.  
  67.     b)  If you're using AutoCad Release 12 or Release 13, please reconfigure
  68.         AutoCad by using the following command:
  69.  
  70.                 ACAD -r
  71.  
  72.         If you're using  AutoCad Release 11, you will have to select  TurboDLD
  73.         ADI Ver 4.2 as the driver.

  76. 5. SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY
  77.  
  78.    If you have problems after putting the card  into your system,  please  try
  79.    placing the card into another PCI slot.
