  23. Tera Term (Pro) is a free software terminal emulator (communication program)
  24. which supports:
  25.  
  26.     - Serial port connections.
  27.     - TCP/IP (telnet) connections.
  28.     - VT100 emulation, and selected VT200/300 emulation.
  29.     - TEK4010 emulation.
  30.     - File transfer protocols (Kermit, XMODEM, ZMODEM, B-PLUS,
  31.       and Quick-VAN).
  32.     - Scripts using the "Tera Term Language".

  55. Supported operating systems:

  60.     Note: Tera Term Pro is a 32-bit application.
  61.           For Windows 3.1, use Tera Term ver. 1.X.
  62.           TTMACRO.EXE and KEYCODE, included in the distribution package,
  63.           are 16-bit executable files.

  100. 5. Installation
  101.  
  102. 1) Copy all files included in the distribution package to an empty directory
  103. (folder) of your choice.
  104.  
  105. 2) If you are using Windows NT, install TTERMPRO.EXE in Program Manager
  106. with its icon. If you are using Windows 95, create a shortcut
  107. for TTERMPRO.EXE in a folder of your choice, or in the Start menu,
  108. or on the desktop.
  109.  
  110. If you want to connect to a host by telnet, the host name can be specified
  111. as a parameter in the command line (shortcut link). See CMNDLINE.TXT.
  112. If you want to connect to a host by a serial port, command line parameters
  113. can be omitted.
  114.  
  115. Specify "Working directory" as the directory in which TTERMPRO.EXE
  116. exists.
  117.  
  118. 3) To use the DEC special font, install the font TSPECIAL.TTF in Windows
  119. by using Control Panel. When you uninstall or upgrade Tera Term later,
  120. unistall the font using Control Panel. This font is used automatically
  121. by Tera Term. You can not select it in the [Setup] font dialog box.

  124. 6. Usage
  125.  
  126. If you have a previous version of Tera Term, note that this version of
  127. Tera Term and the previous one can not run simultaneously. Close all old
  128. Tera Term sessions before running the new Tera Term session.
  129. Re-using old setup files with this version of Tera Term is not recommended.
  130.  
  131. The first time you run Tera Term, the General Setup dialog box appears.
  132. Choose the port type ("TCP/IP" or "Serial") you mainly use, and the language
  133. type "English". Click the Ok button, then the Tera Term window appears.
  134.  
  135. If you choose the port type as "TCP/IP", the New connection dialog box
  136. (to enter the host name to be connected) is displayed after the Tera Term
  137. window appears. If you want to change the setup before the first connection
  138. is started, click the Cancel button here.
  139.  
  140. You can view the help file for usage, by using the [Help] Index command.

  146. 7. Known Problems
  147.  
  148. TTMACRO.EXE and KEYCODE.EXE, included in the distribution package,
  149. are 16-bit executable files. Long macro filenames are not supported.
  150.  
  151. The Kermit Send, ZMODEM Send, and Quick-VAN Send dialog boxes do not support
  152. filenames which contain the space characters, such as "abc def.dat".
  153. They are displayed in DOS format, like "abcdef~.dat".
