  14. This file details network and manual installations for the #9 
  15. Imagine 128 card. Additional pertinent information is contained
  16. in the READ_ME.TXT file.

  19. NETWORK INSTALLATIONS
  20. ------------------------------------------------------------------
  21.

  23. To install Imagine 128 software, you must have write access
  24. to the following directories:
  25.  
  26. 1. SYSTEM directory.   
  27.    KERNEL.EXE, USER.EXE, GDI.EXE, and VGA.DRV files are 
  28.    located here. These files are often on a network drive.
  29.  
  30. 2. WINDOWS directory.  
  31.    WIN.COM is located here. These files are often on a 
  32.    local drive.
  33.  
  34. 3. NUMBER9 subdirectory in the WINDOWS directory.
  35.    Most HawkEye files are copied to this directory.
  36.  
  37. 4. Subdirectory containing Imagine 128 Windows Installation 
  38.    files.
  39.  
  40.    Access is required if the files on the Imagine 128 Windows 
  41.    Installation Disk have been copied to a subdirectory on 
  42.    the network for installation.
  43.  
  44. 5. Imagine 128 Windows Installation Disk.
  45.    Access is required if installation is to be executed
  46.    directly from the disk.
  47.     
  48. After the Imagine 128 software is installed, write protections can
  49. be restored to the directories.

  51. Follow the MANUAL INSTALLATIONS section (below) for network installations.

  58.                 MANUAL INSTALLATION USING THE IMAGINE 128 
  59.                WINDOWS DISK V2.27 OR ABOVE

  63. List of diskettes needed to install the product and the name 
  64. of each diskette.

  66.  Imagine 128 Windows 3.1 OEM or Windows Setup Diskette

  70. A number of files needed for manual installation are in compressed 
  71. format. These files MUST be unsquished prior to installation. 
  72.  
  73.   a) At the Dos prompt, move to your Windows directory. 
  74.      (ex. cd Windows ). 
  75.  
  76.   b) Under your Windows directory create a new directory named Number9.                    
  77.      (ex. md Number9 ). 
  78.  
  79.   c) Copy the contents of the Imagine 128 Windows 3.1 OEM Setup 
  80.      Diskette into the C:\Windows\Number9 directory. 
  81.      (ex. copy A:\ C:\Windows\Number9 )

  83.   d) Run the #9 Unsquish utility to decompress #9 files.
  84.      (ex. unsquish *.* )

  205. personal Windows directory.  This file must be edited to reflect the 
  206. following changes.

  229. From the users Windows directory, Run IRESET. 
  230.  
  231.   This creates the NUMBER9 file in the ROOT directory of the C drive  
  232.   and sets the Imagine 128 resolution to 640x480x256 colors.  This 
  233.   resolution may be changed later using #9 Resolution Exchange.
  234.  
  235. After executing IRESET and making the changes to the SYSTEM.INI, you 
  236. are ready to run Windows.
  237.  
  238. RUN WINDOWS NOW!
  239.  
  240. You will now want to add
  241. 1.  a Program Group entitled #9 HawkEye For Windows to the Windows 
  242.     Program Manager.  
  243. 2.  HAWKEYE.EXE and REXCHANG.EXE as Program Items to the #9 HawkEye 
  244.     For Windows Program Group. (Note: These two files are located in 
  245.     the C:\Windows\Number9 directory.)  
  246.  
  247. To load #9 HawkEye automatically each time Windows is restarted:
  248.     Copy the HawkEye icon into the StartUp Group 
  249.             - or -
  250.     add C:\WINDOWS\NUMBER9\HAWKEYE.EXE to the LOAD= line in the user's 
  251.     WIN.INI File.

  255. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR OVERRIDE
  256.  
  257. CFG=
  258. When the Number Nine Windows driver and HawkEye initialize, they read the 
  259. NUMBER9 configuration file that contains information about the Imagine 128.
  260. The root directory of C drive (C:\)is searched first.
  261. If NUMBER9 is not found, Windows is asked for the location of the WINDOWS 
  262. directory. If NUMBER9 is not found in the NUMBER9 subdirectory in the WINDOWS
  263. directory, an error may be reported.
  264.  
  265. If you want to move or rename NUMBER9, you can do so by adding a CFG entry
  266. to the [Imagine-128] section of the SYSTEM.INI file in the WINDOWS directory.
  267. The entry would look something like this:
  268.  
  269.     [Imagine-128]
  270.     ; Moved the configuration file to new name and location.
  271.     CFG=c:\bin\configs\number9

  274. HAWKEYE=
  275. When HawkEye is installed, its files are placed in the NUMBER9 subdirectory
  276. in the WINDOWS directory. HawkEye utilities require this path to function.
  277.  
  278. If you want to move the HawkEye files (e.g., to a network), you can do so
  279. by adding a HAWKEYE entry to the [Imagine-128] section of the SYSTEM.INI file
  280. in the WINDOWS directory. 
  281.  
  282. Note: The entry should contain the drive letter and full path, but NOT an 
  283. individual file name. Do not put a backslash at the end of the path unless
  284. the HawkEye files are placed in the root directory.
  285.  
  286. The entry would look something like this:
